if diving and overacting fouls are “part of football”… then whats with a bit of “word play”? even if the alleged insult was spoken, so what? one person, to another person, spoken to gain an advantage. settle it after the match, not during the match. never show weakness, as it wil be exploited if the stakes are high enough. any investigation is pointless, what can be done? take away the cup? NOPE. suspend the guy? SO WHAT. hes a national hero in his country, who scored the goal that tied the match off a set piece, and then got the best french player tossed? ( the point of diving, isn’t it? getting the guy booked?). zidane is the goat, and the tourney MVP. hell, zidane could responsed “he slighted my ethnic background, so i stomped him. somethings are more important then soccer.” he’d be a hero.
