Game 142 - Scumbags or playing the game?

LOL

Iā€™ve spoken with Mr Feild once, on very cordial terms - and have never spoken with Mr Stassun. I donā€™t think Iā€™ve EVER made any public statement about either of them. Hey, Iā€™ll make one now! They designed a wonderful game Iā€™ve enjoyed playing for something like 14 years. Thatā€™s why Iā€™ve consistantly voted for the game in all sorts of Best Game polls and lauded the game in magazines (whoever was running it). Three cheers for Feild & Stassun!

Ed, please donā€™t make my point for me ā€¦ Iā€™m genuinely asking you to be more positive. You clearly love the game, and yet almost all your posts are negative in some way. Tell us what you love about the game! People are more likely to listen to points made in a constructive manner.

Colin

Colin, Iā€™m glad your views have moderated. It was your October 3, 2003 List entry comments of ā€œoverarching stupidityā€ and ā€œlazy and lacklusterā€ directed at the two game creators that started the exchange between us which resulted in the List beig censored.

Change is ā€œpositiveā€, while the status quo is ā€œnegativeā€ā€“or so the spin goes.

A willingness to contemplate change is positive. A desire for things to remain the same at any cost is negative.

I certainly do not believe, and have never believed, that all change is good. Of course it isnā€™t (as Ed said, just look at Coca-cola). Though that said, some industry analysts feel that the whole thing ended as a PR triumph for Coca-Cola  I can try to find a very interesting article I read a wile back if anyone is interested.

But my thrust here is positivity. If my views can moderate and become more positive, Iā€™m sure Ed can make a similar effort

Canā€™t you just have a go at each otherā€¦ itā€™s much more entertaining than reading you both trying hard to be nice to each otherā€¦

Bashing it a bit of an overstatement. You have been pinged so far

The Hammer (x2) is coming from the south though.

It seems some upstart belligerent folk from Umbar to Khand decided to talk a bit of trash so a couple of us were conscripted into DS capital relocation. Hope the new surroundings are more suitable

We brought the SK along for increased word ratio

Hi everyoneā€¦Neithan here.
Still stuck out here in Rhun and no-one talking to me.
We have 2 turns before allegiance fix, and nobody seems to want my nation on their side!
Yes yes I appreciate that almost every player is miles from me, and Iā€™ve been listening in to the problems flying around over there. Saying that, can someone fill me in as to what is happening?

And please someone give me reason not to drop this game - power gaming is all well and good, and my nation is stupidly powerful now - just nowhere near anyone else.

Itā€™s good to talk (to me)!

Stay to see if you can stop us folk out West from munching the rest of ME (Rhun included).

But that would depend on SK and the folks in the southest working with you. SK is wicked powerful too, as well as some of those FP down south. But if you all cannot manage to work together, better quit now and save yourself some time and money.

And most of the problems seem to have centered around your not so good self.

Thatā€™s it. Iā€™m dropping.
No-one could be arsed to contact me, and frankly Iā€™m not sure I want to be in a game where the spirit of the game has been so seriously broken.

This is my 1st FA Scumbag game. Iā€™ve played a large number of other FA games and have enjoyed them all.

And if I had not made a deal with the DS and FP near me, how would the game have gone? Who would be talking to you then (besides me telling you I was as good as dead)?

then what? would you have dropped? Or would you just pick a side at random? Or play for a neutral win?

Seems to me your problem is that the only ones who might have talked to you in this game (being the good team players they are) instead formed a cross alligience team. Funny you talk about the ā€˜spiritā€™ of the game being playing as teams.

And so what my ā€˜not so goodā€™ self chose to do seem to have been a good choice for me and a bad choice for you.

NK142

Always easier to blame someone else. By my count there were 16 other nations in the game at one time that he could have allied with. Several have taken their toys and went home it would appear.

Doubt it would have mattered in any event with the level of play that we have encountered.
