This is one of those very frustrating issues. I mean, one of the
fundamental concepts in the game is not knowing where everything is.
That's why all the maps don't cover all the area. That said, some
people like to hang on to the very end. If it was me, I'd probably
either drop, or tell them where I was so we could have a big "Final
Battle". That's not for everyone. However, I've been in a 2:1 game
where we were not convinced we were going to win! I was also in a
4th age game where we had numerical superiority and lost (Gack)
because of clever play by our opponents on slamming into capitals
from off map, that sort of thing.
I guess I'm not sure I would automatically like a 2:1 kill for a
game. Maybe at 5:1 or 6:1. I mean, what if you are down to three
nations? You can't tell me there isn't a shot that 1 nation can take
out 2... Further, even if its 15 to 1 , if you have the 1 ring, you
just might make it to Mount Doom!!!
HERE IS A CHALLENGE! AT the end of LotR, what would YOU say the
comparative ratio is?
MY COUNT:
FREE PEOPLES
Rangers In
Silvans Out
Sinda In
Noldo In (well, they were still cowards, but in)
Woodmen Out
Northmen Out
Riders In
South Gondor In
North Gondor Out (When Aragorn took over, for me that's like picking
up a fallen comrade's position)
Dwarves Out
FP = 5
DARK SERVANTS
Witch King Out
Dragon Lord Out
Fire King In
Ice King In
Quiet Avenger In
Long Riders In
Dog Lord In
Blind Sorcerer In
Cloud Lord In
Dark Lts In
Rhun Easterlings In
Khand Easterlings Out
Corsairs Out
Duns Out
White Wizard In (You just =THINK= he's out)
DS total: 10
2:1 and FP WINS IT! WHEEEEEEEE
Certainly, I can understand a person not wanting to participate in
an "endless game" but an auto shut down at 2:1 seems a bit too
arbitrary for me.
