2-1 Let the game end

Those
players who enjoy the "pry my nation from my cold dead

hands" style

can all join a game together and no-one has (legitimate) cause to
complain.

I, for one, would be interested in knowing how many such
players there are.

(Puts an old codger hat on) Back when I started playing PBM, some
25 years (gak!) ago, a player who dropped was a rarity. Now
players seem to drop whenever they feel like it. That's a far
bigger problem for games than anything else.

Gavin

An excellent point. As someone who will not drop unless my team has
made a decision to concede, I'm equally dismayed at the readiness with
which some players drop positions. Harlequin could probably give us a
rough idea of what percentage of positions were dropped before game
end (that being either team concession or auto-termination based on
victory conditions) or being eliminated (bankrupt or lack of capital
candidates).

And if they don't have the time, all they have to do is give me access
to their database...

Gavin,

The reason people drop more often now is that unlike most other PBM
games, this is a TEAM game...even the solo games are TEAM GAMES.
The honorable thing to do in MEPBM IS TO DROP when you know your
team has been defeated...not when every MT is pryed from your dead
fingers. That just pisses other players off.

I know of a few players who are like that. Many times these players have
encouraged the team they are on to continue playing through their continual
enjoyment of the game even though their nations are being completely stomped
on.

I agree players now drop more, but on the other hand we find it much easier to find replacement players. We rarely have a drop out not taken up at present. (Gunboat the exception but we're now saving all the old Resultsheets so that we can send them on if anyone wants to pick up the nations)
