i suggest getting a team mate to run your position.
Its in their best interest to keep your nation alive
and kicking.

p.s and I don't want to hear about what happens when I
run a teammates's position when he goes on holidays. I
sacked a third of his WK characters and disbanded most
of his armies in a 2950 game ('surprised' was not his
reaction when he got back). And got him bankrupted in
a 1650 game (I purchased a lot of food instead of
selling).
For some strange reason, he and I are not on the same
side in any current game
