2950 Game 219

ALL: I've just picked up the Rhun Easterlings in 2950, Game 219.
I'd welcome communication with both sides and other neutrals. Hope
to hear from you.

Jonathan Shushan

Hi Jonathan!

We meet again in another world! I believe we are on
opposing sides in the War 230, and you are the
Corsairs?

Anyway, maybe our side can win you over this time.
The DS have come charging out of the gate, with the
Long Rider, Dragon Lord, and Dog Lord all converging
on the Sinda capital on turn 2. Akhorahil revealing
it, so they are working VERY close together. On turn
3 they captured it.

We Freeps have tipped our hat and will strike back
this turn, routing 5 of their armies at Minas Tirith
and the ruins of Osgiliath.

Very action-packed so far! I'm impersonating Imrahil
in this campaign, so cheers to the Rhun.

That was an amazingly forthright report by the FP on the DS successes
thus far. Nary a hint of spin. Good karma will come your way, Nick.

Let's flesh things out a little though: In addition to the capturing
of the Sinda cap on T3, in a veritable coup for the DS, Ecthelion (and
his arties) were kidnapped on T2. Osgiliath being EMPTY of Freep
armies, we couldn't resist burning the place to the ground last turn.

To their credit, the FP do now appear to have amassed extensive forces
at 2924 and 3024. We expect some pain. It would be foolhardy,
though, to imagine that these forces will break into Mordor. They
will be dealt with.

Jonathan - you've heard from the competition of our coordinated
efforts. We'd love to make you a part of them.

Drop me a line.

Thanks for your complimentary email you big bad Wolf.
I play the Dark Lts. in one game and know their power
well, so all I want to say to you is 'stay the hell
away from me!'

I look forward to a good game. The DS have already
made this enjoyable by surprising and impressing me
with their opening moves. I never really thought it
was possible to kidnap a Regent on Turn 2, but I
suppose with those agent artifacts draped on Ji Indur
like x-mas tree ornaments he could kidnap the Pope.

I hope to return the favor, surprise for surprise
gentlemen.

To the neutrals: I love a fair fight! So I would
hope you keep game-balance in mind when you declare
allegiance.

Jonathan:

Welcome. I am Nick's half brother-in-arms... North Gondor. Please
note that the DS "veritable coup" is merely one turn in a long, long
game to come.

Yes, Ecthelion II was kidnapped on Turn 2. Alas, I am not overly
concerned about losing a Echtelion's combat +750 artifact. Sure, I
would love to recover the Palantír of Minas Anor - it is sort of a
family heirlom!

As for Osgilath being "EMPTY" of Freep armies on Turn 3, North Gondor
was not overly concerned about losing such a unhospitable piece of
real estate. The only reason we kept it in the family was due to
Ecthelion's rantings about turning it into a summer vacation spot.
Well now that Ecthelion is temporarily vacationing in Mordor, Boromir
insisted clean out the place. :open_mouth:

As for the success of DS agents, Mr. Wolf did not mention the DS
failed to steal North Gondor's prized stealth + 20 artifact (i.e.,
Wood-shadow Cloak). Hmm, Faramir couldn't have already passed it off
to another nation's agent? But I digress...

Forgive my sarcastic tone. Not very gentlemen like where
introductions are concerned.

I think you will find the FP are coordinating just as well as the
DS. So far this game is sizing up to be a good one. As for which
side you end up on - that is your choice. The Free recognize and
respect that... as such, we will gladly talk to you about joining
us. But we will not pressure you into an early decision.

Relish in your neutrality. Sit back and enjoy the show. I am sure
Mr. Wolf will keep you posted with DS developments. Nick and I will
do our best to give you the "other side" of the story.

Feel free to drop me an e-mail. If you want to communicate with a
specific FP nation - just let Nick or I know. We will be happy to
get them to reach out to you. The FP are utilizing a separate yahoo
group page designed for us goodies to keep in touch.

And don't worry, the I won't bite... unlike Mr. Wolf.

Respectfully,

Chris

Are there any more of your popcenters you are so willing to give to us? We
are happy to accommodate you by taking them off of your hands. We did come
to Minas Tirith to see if you wanted to give us that fair city as well. When
we arrived we could not find Boromir anywhere. We did find Faramir, but he
did not want anything to do with Bolg. Perhaps he was embarrassed he traded
his trinkets for some magic beans.

We will be keeping an eye on you

Will:

I am a bit flattered that North Gondor appears to have captured
the "eye" of the Sauron. Are all the DS nations as friendly as
yours? If so, maybe this war is all one big misunderstanding!?!

As for Famarir refusing Bolg's personal challenge, I have to admit
that Faramir was recently promoted to our minister of tourism for
Minas Tirith. Boromir originally held the position, but with
Ecthelion gone he had to take on other assigned duties.

As you now know, Famarir personally welcomes visitors to Minas Tirith
as they pass over the bridge from Mordor. With the loss of Osgilath,
tourism is up in our fair capital. Of course we expect you to spend
your time, resources, and valuable orders trying to knock down the
citadel fortifying our capital. Our bridges shall remain open.

As for giving it away, I am sad to report that the Gondorians will
defend there home with all due diligence. As such, we will
expeditiously extracate any and all enemies in or around our fair
city.

Recent refugees from Osgilath report a pathetic attempt to tear down
the fortifications by the DS armies' war machines. I am sorry you
used the valuable timber for the war effort. I am sure come winter,
you will have wished for more resources to sell.

By the way, I am sure you won't mind a few friendly visitors to some
of Mordor's capitals. Seems Boromir misses Ecthelion's guidance. As
such, Boromir has set off on some silly military campaing to find his
long lost companion, his first stop is... ahh, I digress.

Keep in touch my fine furry friend. For some reason I just don't
feel comfortable calling you my best friend just yet, unless of
course you want to roll over for me... ahh, I digress again.

Sincerely,

Chris
