Are kill totals significantly lower in the 2950 scenario?
Noticed on Bobbin's stat's page that the Highest Kills are much
smaller numbers than I'm used to in 1650. That doesn't seem
to make sense in such a "character game", unless ALL the characters
are better, thus that much harder to kill....? Or, is the
very limited selection on Bobbin's site simply a skewed data
set that requires significant new information?
Give me the ClL in 2950, then play against me Brad, I'll soon teach you not to be so cheeky about poor Bobbin's data!
But actually there are reasons:
1) 2950 is as much of a "character game" vis a vis 1650 as it is made out to be. You start with small armies, but an experienced FP team can have stonking great armies in about 3 turns.
2) The FP have better characters, like reasonable starting agents, Galadriel, and most importantly their own starting curses art. This means that the DS have to tread a lot more carefully, and the body count tends to be more evenly spread than the usual 70 to the ClL and 2 to everyone else.
3) There haven't been so many 2950 games with all very experienced players.

I'll take that strewn glove when my current games run their
course, yet I believe Bobbin's himself states that his data
is incomplete, and he is awaiting more from Harlequin, on
the site. No offense, however subtly inferred, meant.

Players with Wisdom! Please answer my question if you
can:
Will combat spells and artifacts used during an Army
vs. Army battle also be used in my Army vs. Pop.
Center battle? (Assuming I'll win the first one.)
Both battles take place on the same turn of course.
I thought I knew the answer at one time, but memory of
it has faded. Logically, I think they should be
useful vs. pop. centers, but for some reason I'm
tempted to think otherwise. (As if artifacts were
like dragons, good for only the first round of
combat).
Thanks for your help.

Hey Nick,
Sorry, I don't have a set in stone answer. My
thought is that spells and arties only affect army
combat versus armies. Elsewise, there would be a
spell that affects fortifications or loyalties. I did
not see anything in the rule book that said
definitively if this is the case. The combat spells
are addressed for navy combat and army combat, not pop
center combat.
Hope this helps,
Crimson Shard

Popcenter combat is only one round anyway.. either you have the forces or you
don't. At least thats what I've always been told.

I know defensive spells do affect pop center combat.
