Very odd game indeed.
I HAD earlier felt bad for perhaps contributing to the bizarre nature of this game, but after bearing witness to such self destructive policies I am washing my hands of the freep doomed fate. 
You have made your bed and decided to invite the foul races to lie beside you instead of men.

As for the DS, well I am still here. Why don’t you do your own dirty work and come get me yourself?
We shall be waiting in steel/steel, and experienced armies for the big ‘surprise’. Seems the freeps are giving me much needed training opportunities for my armies.
So yes, the DS will have this game handed them but you shall not have my nation until you wrest it from my dying hands. 
I now understand why the inbox thinkers of the game dislike neutral teams and neutrals in general while failing to use diplomacy at all. it causes you to act out paranoid ideas and serve to ruin the game for all while blaming the horrible neutrals for your silly actions.
I suggest for you whiners concerning the 3rd variable perhaps chess…or checkers theres a real brain teaser for ya.
I know, how bout you try tick tack toe, that outcome is almost as exciting as 2 way games with no variables.

In short, this is the wierdest game I’ve played in for a ton of reasons.
What the free do is unimportant to the grand scheme of things (both the dark and neutrals have mentioned this) let it be a mixed war then (not of my choosing mind you, but save that tale for another time), freeps v.s independants and darks v.s. the neutral team.
Note, we only attacked those who smelled bad or who lied to us or who allied with someone who lied to us or people who were in our general area of influence, or people who were not yet allied with the north kingdom (who we all thing is cool and worship as a god). But besides those things, we are a friendly bunch.

Good Job on eliminating me DS team… It was the first time in all my time playing ME games that I had no chance to even take any offensive action but I knew that when I chose to place myself in Rhun isolated from rest of my team so a True Nuetral team could have a chance in this game.
I think it’s a shame though that Wisigoths have chosen the easy road. I can only assume they would only side with the strongiest side or maybe they just chose to be with a friend on your team. Either way from turn 1 they showed me they would go DS.
FP your inexpierence in FA 1000 is showing. Your lack of helping my nation stay in Rhun will be your demise. All you have accomplished so far is to make the DS team stronger. In the end you will go down becuase you do not play as a team and no concept of Strategic thinking and teamwork.
Vengers will be nothing more than a mute footnote in this game but the Ghost of the Vengers lives on and may well have some say in who wins this game!

Here is my first war report. Have no fear, given your skill it won’t revolve around you much longer wave and point to exit door

The recents event came as a surprise to all of us. We planned long and hard expecting any kind of difficulties; co-ordinating nations isn’t an easy task. Yet as soon as we started paying guards, swaying the population, they were falling down on their back (or front in more than one case), legs open. The fact that both males or females were doing so was far less disturbing than where they chose to do so. Clean doesn’t exist in Cathar vocabulary. The town was ours within a day.
As it might help our cause in our future dealings, we inquired and digged to find a reason why they suffer such a bad case of surrenderithis.
The locals were more than willing to leave the care of it’s ruler to us. The fella has the vacant expression of a pregnant cow, and the general disposition of a sloth. The only claim Snout, that’s his name yes, may have about fame is the fact he kept his finger up his nose since he was 5 year old. The less we speak about the rest of him, the better.
It then came to us that the root of the Cathar behaviour was somehow linked to their name. So we started looking around. We were very quickly struck by the fact, their names is close to cataract. Fitting for a nation of wankers isn’t it?.
But while they happily participate in the pleasure form ultimately leading to blindness, and said disease, it was one of our old scholar who found the vital clue.
Their capital, more like a large pigsty anyway, comes from the old Dunnish form of Montségur, which litterally means “the place were we burn the morons/mongrels”. It was a hamlet outside Larach Dunnan where the Dunnish Inquisition, created for this very purpose, burned at the stake an heresy stemmin from Saruman’s experiences in breeding. Cathar comes from Catharoi, an old orcish term in the white moutains meaning “Of many fathers”. This requires no explanation.
We were looking at their actions as their ruling class was a bunch of inbred. In fact, they are the complete opposite. Genetically, they’re a bunch of outbred, with traces of orcish, mules, pokemons, dogs, odd human now and then, platypus, lemmings and watermelon in their blood.
We have copious excerpts from Arnaud d’Amaury, one of the leading protagonist of the Dunnish Inquisition which explain this heresy. In short, they believe that the material world, all of middle-earth is made by the evil one, and that they must leave it to access the pure spiritual world. We’ll have a lot more to say on the matter of the Dunnish Inquisition next month.
So, it is their military, political, and theological tradition to fall on their sword, or just surrender to anyone in the hope of being slaughtered.
We’ll oblige them of course, that’s why we have attached this huge order for larges scales and ducks, the local custom requiring those.

Things in this game have become quite interesting, indeed, and I’ll end my silence by making a few points:

This game is far from over, as the FP have an extremely strong position in the south, and our DS team has suffered some fairly severe losses in this game.

Between our war with the neutral team, and the FP attacks on many neutrals (on and not on the team), the neutral team is not looking very strong right now.

I personally believe that the only way a neutral victory is viable in this format is if none of the neutrals (team or independent alike) reveal whether or not they’re part of the neutral team. The independents should at least talk to the neutral team first, and if things go well, not reveal their identities. I guess in a new format like this, the independents didn’t see things this way, mistakes (such as the NK’s declaration as a team member) were bound to be made. Once people play this format more, things like this might happen less often.

The Vengers might have taken a gamble, and lost, but I think it was a sucker bet. It would have made much more sense for him to have gone with the “any region” option, and a lot more starting gold. My entire 4-person team did so, because we felt that choosing 16 regions between us wasn’t much better than getting one of the 25 randomly assigned to us.

Didier is now one of the members of our team, nor our lackey. He has proven to be an exemplary teammate thus far, and the neutral team was foolish to alienate him.

Perhaps Didier was late in helping his fellow independent neutral, but had Socrates negotiated with him more diplomatically, Didier might have been able to send more forces across the mountains. He did send some help. As it was, we’d been on friendly terms with this independent neutral since the start of the game, and we sent him some help.

The FP were foolish to attack independent neutrals. Once the neutral team was identified, it would have made much more sense for them to have attacked team members like we did, rather than ensure that no independent neutrals would join their side by alienating them. If the diplomacy of the game is such that the neutral team becomes revealed, like it did in this game, it makes perfect sense to attack the neutral team members, while courting the independents. One of our goals was to try to make the neutral team a less viable option for independents than our team. The combination of our attacks and the FP’s attacks on several neutrals (team and independent, alike) have at least made a neutral victory much less likely. The FP attacks on the independents have ensured that any independents wishing to look for a new allegiance would choose DS over FP.
With the magical turn 12 approaching, there are still a couple of independent neutrals that might be interested in leaving the neutral alliance. Those neutrals are welcome to join the DS, where they will be treated as teammates and equals with the rest of us,

I suspect he had a bone to pick with me from before game start when I showed him the lack of his reasoning on the discussion list.
He was NEVER a viable recruit.
He’s the type of player that looks to see who most likely to win and jumps on the bandwagon. Decent follower? Maybe…possible leader? NEVER
As for the FP, well for one, I know I don’t CC diplos to my enemy and I have seen the freeps do it with ds more than once.
It is not too late for the freeps to see the light and recognize the real enemy is the DS.
And I almost forgot the ds were still at war with mankind. Seems the freeps have been doing all your dirty work.
So we will keep fighting the fight for man, if for none other than to not just hand the win to the ds.
But my prediction made…a long time ago still stands.
Perhaps in hindsight mistakes were made, and my diplomacy is not suave. But the fact that Wisigoths like to insult players has nothing to do with MY diplomacy.
My allies remain steadfast and my enemies continue to grow, but the back of the line is over there.
If I wanted the likes of hanger ons, and coatails on my team perhaps I would have put up with Wisigoth beligerence. But bedfellows such as he I do not need.
Now this is his cue to deny the facts and go on some tangent he probably considers roleplaying but no one takes the time to read.
Kudos to you though for standing up for a teamate…deserving or not. Says something about you.
As for remaining neutrals…well that day is gone.
They either join the human struggle as full partners, or they allow themselves to be manipulated into joining the DS and playing with the likes of Wisigoths. :eek:
