4th Age Limited Agent Games?

Hello, MEPBM fans! It’s been awhile since I played MEPBM. I’m interested in getting back in. Can anyone tell me whether anyone plays “limited agent” 4th Age games any more? I never got in one (i stopped MEPBM just when the limited agent games were being experimented with) but the idea fascinated me.

Also, is there any way I can get into a game quickly?

Thanks.

NKA - No Kidnap or Assassination (exactly that - the orders aren’t allowed)
LAS - Limited Agent Scenario (I forget the specifics, no agent SNA’s but all orders allowed, something like that…?)

Aren’t very popular, I believe. It takes months for a regular FA game to get filled as it is, breaking up the option pie didn’t exactly take off.

The company will advertise games proposed by players if they bring enough people in with them ie: you want an NKA game and you have 8 other friends, they’ll put the game up for filling.

Get in touch with them me@middleearthgames.com and ask.

“…quickly?” - no, not FA. There are very often dropped nations available to be picked up, and 1650 games fill quite quickly. Look up the News and Events page at www.middleearthgames.com, or subscribe to the mepbmlist@yahoogroups.com where Clint sends news, players discuss various items, etc.

See you around…

I have played 5 nations in LAS 4th Age games and for me they are the game of choice in the 4th age setting. The reason for this is that the non-limited agent games which allow with 1 player on each side with Cloud Lord SNA’S (+20 kid/ass, stealth, new agents @ 40) combined with double scout can have too great an impact on the whole game and especially the nations they choose to target.

There is still quite a lot of assassination and kidnapping in LAS games, early game mostly by the DS with their 60 rank agents, however it does not take long for the Free and Neuts to get in on the act, which keeps it interesting compared to the total ban of the third type.

The LAS 4th age game seems to be the easiest of the 4th Age games to fill, I have rarely had to wait more than a few weeks for a start-up and this seems to pass quickly since I can occupy myself with so many different nation designs.

Anyhow if you choose to join a new game, welcome back and I wish you the best of luck.
(One thing to remember is that the camp limit is reached very quickly so don’t neglect your emmies. )

I’ve had the same experience as Paul – never had to wait to long for LAS (my favorite type).

Yes, 1650 games are more common, but LAS games are still frequent enough.

And yes, there are still kidnappings going on in LAS, but the nation design tends to favor builds that lead to a greater variety of styles. It’s a good scenario.

Also, you should note that the STANDARD 4th Age Scenario setup will only allow ONE nation on each allegiance to have the “+20 Kidnap/Assassinate”, “Stealth”, or “Double Scout” SNAs. (LAS doesn’t allow these at all.)

Hi Mike,

actually I believe the limit for standard 4th age games is 1 +20 Kidnap/Assassinate nation per allegiance. But that stealth and double scout are unlimited.

cheers,

Adam

Correct.

FYI: 1000 games fill the slowest of the 3 scenarios. 1650 about 1 every 2 weeks (of some format), 2950 about 1/month, 1000 around 1 per 3 months.

Is there somewhere on the MeGames website that explains the different variants of each scenario? I couldn’t manage to find a page that had these descriptions.

Anyone interested in getting a list of players going for a 4th Age Limited Agent game? I’ll put muself down as the first name on the list. Anyone else who wants in, please post a reply here.

Nimdraug, add me to your list. Can’t join another yet, but might be able to by the time the game is ready. If it works out, I’m in: Fourth Age LAS is great!

I will play.

Thanks, you guys, for adding yourselves to the list. I’m going to start a new thread for any others who want to add their names to the list.

Best to get back to me with the list - I can help a lot. Players who sign up on here don’t necessarily reflect players who will actually play and I get a lot of emails asking for games.

Not really but each set-up form has the various types. Not the GSI one but the one we have created. Feel free to ask for one. (We generally don’t encourage new players to get into 1000 without a buddy of some sort).
