Recently visited Scotland after a 15 year absence. When I was there, so long ago, Union Jacks were everywhere. This time I scarely saw any. Not even in front of the Army recruiting station. All you Celtic independence types had beter seriously consider the momentious consequences of undoing James I's vision of a "Great Britian".

The bit i like best is that the states were formed by people we
kicked out for being religious zealots, who then went on a genocidal
rampage of the indigenous population, imported slaves [with european
help], turned on each other, before realising that there was more
profit in swamping the world in the banality of consumerism!

  RD: Historical note: James VI of Scotland was invited by the English parliament to become James I of England, uniting the two realms.

  His successor, Tony Blair, has done his utmost to divide Great Britain, giving a measure ot autonomy to Scotland and Wales and proposing "Regional councils" for the north-east and other areas. Why is he doing this? Because by breaking up the country into province-sized chunks it becomes easier to administer by a Federal Europe of which he dreams (in vain) of becoming President.

  Dream on Tone; if you think the French will ever accept a Brit as President (even one with a scottish name) you are living in cloud cuckoo-land. Monty Python had it right when they made the French castellan say to King Arthur, "I fart in your general direction."

  And why oh why is the British parliament so dominated by scots? Tony BLAIR, GORDON Brown, hell, even the so-called leader of the opposition is IAIN DUNCAN mouse, sorry, Smith.

  And how come scottish MPs who have their OWN parliament can ALSO sit at Westminster and vote on legislation affecting ENGLAND? Can you see the uproar if the situation were reversed?

  WAKE UP ENGLAND! Isn't it about time we took back charge of of our own affairs?
