Almost like relearning the game again. Made a number of newbie mistakes I wouldn’t have made eight years ago.
The perishableness of information—learning something a turn to late to exploit. If ‘great minds think alike’, how come Bubba and myself keep going off on different tangents? Don’t sign messages, use vague terms like ‘next turn’ instead of turn number ‘x’, don’t report map sightings or army commanders, etc, etc.
well no, to me it rather brings the feeling of the olde days back, when I received real paper-written diplos.
and the nations that don’t communicate: are they lazy, incompetent, or do they simply not WANT to ?
NOTE: NO, that means no, posting is allowed about this game whilst it is still processing. Please desist… So you cannot discuss the game in any form until the game ends.
I’d be wary of discussing such things. With GB games for example I strongly discourage players talking about strategies just in case there’s information that is particularly pertinent. For example situations can develop or a theoretical example can be explored compared with a real, in-game, scenario and this can blur the lines very quickly between communication or not.
I don’t mind the debate about re-filling positions vs leaving them on stand-by but be wary of where it goes concerning specific examples within game 75 until game 75 has ended. I think it’s simplest to just leave such discussions to after the game that it’s pertinent to is over.
Indeed, that’s a problem. Can’t have no communication yet have communication…
If you have something that you want to say, my suggestions is do what I do and write it down ready for when it’s appropriate to do so. See game 70 for a recent example of the flurry of emails and discussion points afterwards.
I’ve had a fair bit of feedback for this game and have a feel for it, but it’s not really appropriate to discuss at present.
I just wouldn’t mention it. Easier. It can’t then go off tangent and into a game discussion or alluding to a position/type of event in a game that might be seen with alluding to an example and before you know it there’s a hard example of a real in-game situation that could be construed as attempt to communicate. I find that with all the good intentions that it just doesn’t work out the way that the initial thread is supposed to go.
