I have played one no-drop gunboat (96) so far and 5 or 6 normal games and I really enjoyed the no-drop game. There were still a few drops but less then I would expect in a normal game and for different reasons then generally is the case. I would like to try another one.
Clint informed me that with the new system for picking up dropped positions he does not plan another no-drop GB game. Though I applaud the new system and will in effect volunteer for the pool of players that pick up dropped positions I still believe that any drops will affect the game so I would like to see if we can find 12 committed players, including myself for another no drop game.
Please reply to this message if you are interested.
If you are interested send a message to Clint AND reply on the forum so we know there is some interest.
How about the guys that played in game 96, any takers?
I am happy to support whatever (within reason) format of game you guys want to play. At present there’s no clear indication of support for a no-drop game. I’ll check this out in a week to see what’s up and then discuss options.
Well, is there nobody interested to get this off the ground? I had one other player confirming interest via email not on the forum but it would take another 9 confirmations to get it started. What happened to all the ME veterans who wanted a good game with diehard players?
Note at present I don’t think we can fill 2 Gunboat games of 1650 at a time. We’ve got one that is half-filled using the new rules that have been proposed that I feel will deal with the issues of drops and some of the issues of playing in a no-drop game.
I’d like players to give the new rules a try with the Player pool and set-up turns for players that take-up nations - that should work nicely for a competitive game. Clearly it doesn’t stop players dropping but it does mean that in the unlikely event we’re not informed we can quickly replace the player anyway (there are sometimes SS turns in all games of course).
Well, I’m all for a no-drop 2950 GB but I suspect you meant 1650, since it’s been my observation that an unqualfied game category usually means the original.
