Let me open by saying that I absolutely value the
professional service that Harlequin provides. I rate
it above Allsorts which was good at its best, but I
remember it as variable - and never as professional as
that which we had from you. Furthermore, I am willing
to pay for it, and as I said, I dont object to the
£3.90 turn fee (nor, in isolation, any of the points
discussed).

*** Thankyou. Much appreciated.

I dont think your response really addresses my points

*** A real shame we spent a good hours (between us) working on that.

I dont quibble that the things that you mention have
changed six months ago - however they still add up to
a 'picture' that today I dont like

*** Some things have changed I concur.

An account history is *fundamental*.
Your approach is
like my bank saying "We cant send you statements
anymore, but we will send you all the receipts and you
can work it out for yourself".

*** But we are not a bank. Nor does a bank send out a statement each time
you spend money (ie a turn) with an accurate state of your balance. And
banks make mistakes, in the £100s - £1000s of pounds not our measely £4s...
(in players favour as well note). Wish my bank invited me down the pub to
discuss new accounts I could design, or had a mailing list....

All the valid changes you have made to protect
yourself against dirty rotten players who waltz off
into the twilight owing you cash are fine - but you
have made in a way that penalise me - loyal for 8
years and literally £000s spent. Similarly I am
uninterested in you waving SS turn fees, or
international player fees.

**** Many players liked this - also it has brought in a lot of
international players we feel (well aspects of this sort of thing).

You didnt justify the low account balance fee

*** Admin fee. We are taking longer on admin for some accounts than we do
running turns sometimes.... Basically if a player goes Low Funds it
takes us a few minutes effort to sort it out when they come back to
balance. (Whether or not there is a credit allowed). This mounts up to
around 10 Low Funds per day. Therefore we have to chase up the players
(mostly), and get the money. Not something we would prefer to do. We have
found that players pay up in advance more if there is an extra fee (a
penalty clause in the contract so to speak).

YOu did contact me and suggest a monthly dd increase -
and I accepted

*** Yep, after some query I recall where I pointed out the 4.xx turns per
month.

As far as I know, the cost for a game start up HAS
risen from £5 to £7

*** Not accurate I am afraid. £5.00 is the cost if you pay before the game
is created. Otherwise it is the normal cost or £3.90 per turn.

And I still cant tell whether you have innocently
overcharged me, undercharged me, or charged me for
things I dont believe I should be charged for....
All the best

** Same for you.

So, whilst following with interest your latest response to MB, I
recalled that I just went down to 0 or below, last week, when I forgot
to look at the cover sheets following my change of payment method.
(Following the (dare not to say "iniquitous" again  credit card
surcharge discussion).

So did I get charged the "Admin fee"? And if there is no account
history available, how will I know, without getting out my check book
stubs and "ready reconer"? Does one get a separate notification when
one is "Admin Charged"?

Also, where please, does it tell me about the admin charge? I've just
looked through my last cover sheets and found no mention of it.

Checked the web site for info about it. All I found was:

Startup is normally £20, including two free turns.
Special Summer offer - Startup is reduced to £10!!
Costs £3.90 a turn.

and

Earth £10 - full set up, folded map, 2 turns
£5 - set up with no rules or map, 2 turns
£5 - rules
£8 - map £3.90 £3.90

and

The Harlequin Promise
Not only do we offer a full, no quibble, money-back guarantee on any
start-up purchased, but if at any time you decide to stop playing, we
will refund the balance of any credit remaining in your account.

But I still can't find anything about the admin charge.

*** Admin fee.

Yes we inform players that they are Low Funds. Ie they will be charged an
admin fee - unless there is a good reason.

What day? Which game - I can check but I thought you mentioned a good idea
about saving the file each time.

*** On the bottom of the FS under long term notes. Ie ones that have been
around for a long time and we moved "out of the way" of the serious fun of
gaming.

*** House rules probably. Haven't read them myself in a while. I'll pass
your concerns onto Sam and we can think about this.

No, the context of that comment was someone saying that he didn't keep
the cover sheet .pdfs because of all the disc space. I replied with the
detail of what I do: I have a different folder for each game, I change
the file name of the turnsheet file as I save it, so that I have all the
old turnsheets, by turn no. Called things like 36WiK01.pdf 36WiK02.pdf
For the cover sheet pdfs I just save them under the name they come in,
which is the account number, so each cover sheet.pdf overwrites the last
one. That means I always have the last cover sheet for each game, for
access to addresses.

I don't have a great backlog of cover sheets. You should be able to
glance at my account history for the last few weeks, see when I went
down to 0 and tell me if I got charged.

I was only on 0 or less for one day. It was the day that 32 and 29 are
processed (a Tuesday). And the cheque I sent you on the Monday evening
was dated 18th Sept.
