A silly thought

As an aside, why do ya wanna assassinate one. If you are dark there are few free
dragons to be recruited and they hardly use them anyway so the 25K+ combat bonus for armies makes them well worth keeping and too valuable to just
knock one off.

If you is a freep, fighting, PCing is far better way to kill for a profit, as your agents won't be able to do it until late game, even with toys. Some dragons seem to be tougher than others though it may be a bit of the random PC magic that the program uses. They do appear to have different combat values in army warfare so maybe some ARE bigger.
I have never tried to curse one, i'll get back to you i'm only playing one game a 'grudge' and i don't think the team would lend me an artii to train up and go learnin on a dragon. Could always ask though, that's what team captains are for

Yep, known as "generic dragon in lair" on Bobbins. Character encounters dragon lying atop treasure in lair but no name is given.

Read their descriptions and battle reports. Some are

some wander about slashing their claws at the enemy.

How can the team lend you arties in a grudge Adrian? Its a
coincidence as the game I'm considering attempting 615 dragons
is a grudge but I already have the agent arties etc..

Why do I want to assass/curse dragons? Partly as another
option in defence and attack strategies and partly because
I would like to explore parts of ME I havent discovered yet
and create new data for the ME community. And thats a hard
task considering the many exellent players out there. Ofcourse
its not a constructive tactic to eliminate dragons playing DS.

Yep. 'Course they are ALL so tough that having one in an army is a huge advantage over not having one.

My friend Jeremy Richman once went on a dragon-slaying spree with Elrond in a 1650 game. Loaded him up with mage artifacts etc. and a decent weapon that had the hidden power of being more effective against dragons (I forget the wording) -- I don't recall if there was some other artifact that also improved his odds against dragons as well. Anyway, in that game Elrond slew multiple dragon, I think some just in personal challenges and some in encounters using the attack option. The former helped push his mage rank up a bit, not to mention making the DS army commander weep when he saw his ace in the hole get trumped right before the battle, the latter got him the usual rewards for defeating an encounter with an NPC, treasure, lost list spells, whatever. Anyway, challenging a dragon in an enemy army just before a battle only happened once if I recall, but hey, characters WITH an army are not immune to 'surprise' challenges...

Jeremy came up with a strategy once to take out the Dwarves
capital and moved all his armies down in the attempt and
talked Rhuduar into joining the DS.. End result, he never
got the dragon he hoped for and Card and me (Noldo/Arth) rolled
over him and Rhuduar by turn 8.

Always wondered if it was actually possible for WK to take

Actually a threat is not that hard, IF you have a commander whose effective rank is greater than 100.

As the Dog Lord, I once, having gotten hold of the Dwarven Ring of Power along with some other command artifacts (including another Dwarven one, Belt of Durin or something), managed to threaten Moria, still a City/Citadel, with only just over 1000 troops -- because my effective command rank was around 150. It was pretty sweet, using the dwarven artifacts to take away their capital. Wasn't that tough at all...

In fact, both sides in 1650 have access to enough command artifacts of their own such that if they combine them in the right way they can threaten big heavily fortified pop centers just fine. But it takes a lot of orders to do that -- much better to nail one enemy commander (Poor Bain, we knew him well, put an extra smile on his face and dropped him in a well) and pick up another +65C or thereabouts in one fell swoop...

Command rank vs pop center loyalty seems to be a major factor in threats -- number of troops seems to be less of a factor than the rules imply, as quite often mediocre commanders with more than enough troops fail, while just as often, high-ranking commanders (especially if adjusted rank >100) succeed even with a fraction of the allegedly required number of troops...
