Yep. 'Course they are ALL so tough that having one in an army is a huge advantage over not having one.
My friend Jeremy Richman once went on a dragon-slaying spree with Elrond in a 1650 game. Loaded him up with mage artifacts etc. and a decent weapon that had the hidden power of being more effective against dragons (I forget the wording) -- I don't recall if there was some other artifact that also improved his odds against dragons as well. Anyway, in that game Elrond slew multiple dragon, I think some just in personal challenges and some in encounters using the attack option. The former helped push his mage rank up a bit, not to mention making the DS army commander weep when he saw his ace in the hole get trumped right before the battle, the latter got him the usual rewards for defeating an encounter with an NPC, treasure, lost list spells, whatever. Anyway, challenging a dragon in an enemy army just before a battle only happened once if I recall, but hey, characters WITH an army are not immune to 'surprise' challenges...

Some
dragons seem to be tougher than others though it may
be a bit of the random PC magic that the program
uses. They do appear to have different combat values
in army warfare so maybe some ARE bigger.
"maybe"...???
Read their descriptions and battle reports. Some are
"huge" others "stunted". Some are old, some are
young, some fly around casting spells at the enemy
some wander about slashing their claws at the enemy.
Oh yes, they are as different as characters as Baranor
and Elrond..
