Advice for a newbie

Clint,

I thought the advice was very good for newbies as intended. Especially
as not everyone can or even wants to communicate with other players.

general note on characters, perhaps say something like if you start
with decent artifacts, don't stay still for too long! And maybe
something like characters with over 100 combined skill points will
generally show up on other player's PC reports.

Commanders of rank 35+ at your capital should Downgrade Relations

(order

185, p63) to nearby enemy nations.

I'd almost say rank 40+ - I'm sure this order has been made harder in
recent times!

If you meet an enemy army with one of your armies, your army

commander

should Attack Enemy (order 230, p64) and Refuse Challenges (order
215, p63)

I actually thought this was good advice for newbies, especially freep
ones......

If you have a 30+ rank emmisary at your capital, Name Emmisary
(order 734,

here is where you could say, "if you don't have a 30 point emmy, name
one (order 725 page whatever) with a character with ANY command skill
at the capitol"

Nation Advice
Eothraim: Attack 3231. Ask for gold.

3221 I think you mean.

Dwarves. Join in attacks by neighbours.

maybe say attack 2409, 2715? Help Northy in Rhun?

 Sinda. Attack 2715, 3124.

3124? let me just find my teleport army spell again

Noldo. Attack 2409 and the Witch King. Give gold. Locate Artefacts.

Noldor, attack.... they aren't words normally used together

Ice King. Delay Free armies. Ask for a Back-up Pop centre

rephrase to backup capitol?

cheers,
Stags.

PS. very funny with the undeclaration! And why does everyone dislike
the french?

If you name Comms at 40, I say 45+ is the best option. I find that when you name
Comms at 40, your 30+ Comms tends to fail a lot more than you can only name
Comms at 30. Figures, eh ?

But still, even a C30 can succeed often enough, it's call "gambling".

Thanks John (especially) and everyone for the advice.

I've fixed the hex numbers. After much pondering, I still won't mention the
725 order, I think it would do more harm than good. If a player can figure
it out on their own then all to the good, otherwise I don't want to add
complexity when it can be avoided.
