An idea on the game certificates

When this Play by MAIL game was invented, based on Middle Earth, a quasi
medievil world with magic and dragons, and when players did not begin the game
with all the information that was supposed to be a total mystery, and without
knowing who was playing what other nation with constant daily communication...

...was it invented to be a "team" game where at least 10 players are SOCIALLY
encouraged to become merely a token entity existant solely to pay his share?
(3.90 a 1/26 year game time "share" nowadays..).

Well? Was it?

I don't think so.

If nothing else, how about this:

Tokein's Middle Earth had many different nations and peoples opposed to each
other's actions/success/existence. Elves and Dwarves are not necessarily
supposed to share pdfs, for a simplistic example.

Thus, everyone who believe the game should remain true to Tolkein, is thus a
supporter of Victory Points AND the DIFFERENT Victory Conditions. If you deny
this, then your logic is screwed up and frankly, you are most likely doing
yourself a psychological disservice.

Tolkein did not want these nations "played" by a single mind. They were opposed
to THE Single Mind (quiz: who do I mean) for their own reasons individually, not
as the Allies in some childishly silly board game.

Unless the creator of the game can post and clear this up for us, I think it
would be prudent to not refer to this game as a Team Game per se. It is made up
of 25 seperate nation leaders (role playing, to some degree YES) where many have
certain common interests.

The United States and Britain have things in common too. While these two
nations play as a "team" in many spheres, they also end up banning products from
each other for bizarre reasons too... Why shouldn't the Northmen NOT send the
Woodmen timber? Who said? Eh? Who said?

Thanks

Brad Brunet

May I suggest, Brad, that you read page 1 of the rules where it is very
clear. This is a team game, in that your team needs to win (first
condition), but only one player on the winning team can actually win the
game itself (second condition).

Dear Clint ?

I think Twitch might get worried about the F&M cull
(killing healthy stock seems 'excessive'. I assume
cats can carry the disease - they just can't catch
it).

So how about moving down to Oz ? Its nice weather at
the moment.

The yanks will LOVE getting 2-1 for their dollar.

And the queen doesn't visit that often.

RD: You got room for another cat over there? On of mine currently has a
cold, but insists on lying on top of my pc, dribbling down the screen,
sneezing over it and any food/drink I have within 20 paces. The sunshine
might do her good and save her from being strangled.......

Richard.

RD: Hey Clint, I've just GOT to ask you, what's your response to Ann
Robinson having a go at the Welsh?

For the benefit of non-Brits, Ann R hosts a TV quiz show called 'The Weakest
Link' in which she ridicules all the participants. She is very cruel but it
does make a refreshing change from the false sympathy fluffed out by other
quiz hosts. If you haven't seen it yet, you will soon. It's been sold all
over the world and Ms Robinson is booked to do it live in the USA.

Regards,

Richard.
