An important activity....

Just thought of something (for once)...let us see if anyone can come
up with alternatives for the nation descriptions in the Manual. I
will have first stab at the Northmen

'The Northmen peoples live near the Shadow: foul rumours and smells
drift in from the sea of Rhun; thousands of orcs probe and rummage
around the borders near Dilgul; and hordes of Easterlings rumble
around, looking with greedy eyes, at the Northmen towns. War
pervades everything and everyone. The Northmen know they are the
stormsurge against the darkness. Which is why they are all
emissaries and merchants! Uh?'

Ray

"Led by the Second of the Nazgul, the Dragon Lord, the nation of
Khamul is one of the most unmanageable of the Dark Servants of
Middle-earth. In his exposed fortress in southern Mirkwood, the
Dragon Lord is calling for his brown corduroy trousers in response to
events that are transpiring in Rhovanion and the Misty Mountain region.
Surrounded by a variety of incompetent emissaries and mages with
spectacularly useless starting spells, the Dragon Lord has been told he
can manipulate the affairs of the region almost at will - Sauron nearly
wet himself laughing. His agents frequently infiltrate his adversaries'
settlements, but never improve their skills, as they are endlessly
ScoCharring for the DS in exchange for the goodwill needed to beg
loose change almost every turn. Because of the numerous military
forces in the area however, the Dragon Lord has not yet crept out to
get his *rse whipped. The Dragon Lord does not like to operate near
bodies of water (Hydrophobia! As if he hasn't got enough problems
already) maintains no navies, and does not bother to maintain vigilance
over the nearby Anduin river - his philosophy is 'if you don't see it
coming, it hurts less when it kills you'"

lol...this will be hard to match (it certainly is
strange that Sauron sent a 'hydrophobic' to guard the
Anduin. He was such a joker

Truly inspired by the current nation description and aptly describing the
real state of affairs for the Dragon Lord. I'm playing Khamul in a 1650
game (#73) right now and you really have to be on your toes and willing to
try VERY risky and experimental strategies, but it can be a lot of fun. Ask
the Dwarves and the Noldo how they liked that last battle where I dispatched
an Army and left a Large Army with severe losses all with just one Army and
the Major Town of Osgiliath. I may have lost Osgiliath and my Army, but I
did more damage to them than they expected, I'm sure. Of course, loading
the army up with every mage that could cast a combat spell and every
character with a weapon didn't hurt... But that's one of those risky
maneuvers I was talking about.

BTW, whoever is running the dwarves in game 73, would you please tell me if
you had a subcommander in that Large Army of Bain's during the battle? I
don't expect you to say who if you did, but I'd like to know if I had
challenged Bain and won with Celeldhring, whether or not he would have
poofed your army. The Noldo got lucky they had a sub, cut I almost let Bain
and Celedhring go at it.

"The Horselords of the Eothraim control the mightiest army in Middle-
earth, but their leaders do not begin to match those of their foes
in hardihood or valor. Worse, their single-minded focus on their
steeds and lances has led to grievous neglect of less honorable
means of combat, and their illiterate bards are ill-equipped to
remind the Eothraim of the shadows of fear and deceit that the
Dark Lord wielded long ago and may lead again.

"An even greater problem is that the massive treasury accumulated
by generations of thrifty Horselords is about to run out, and the
Eothraim have no idea how they will be able to reward the hordes
of poverty-stricken horsemen in their army."

Osgiliath? What the ^%$^% are you smoking? Did you by chance mean
Goblin Gate?

Yes, I was being brain-dead. I meant Goblin-gate. I don't know why I said
Osgiliath. I'm so used to being the Dog Lord and taking Osgiliath really
early in the game I guess.
