Anchored ships destroyed ????

Folks,

I was wondering if anyone could help shed some light on the below scenario.

I have a large army at an enemy pop center with an enemy offshore navy in the hex. The offshore navy attacks my army thus anchoring his ships ? Correct ?
Now I issued an burn pop center order, so after dispensing with the enemy army, I go on and burn the pop center to ashes…thus removing the port.

So now it’s a non shore hex with no port/harbour so my questions is, will those enemy anchored ships still be present in the hex or will they have been destroyed due to the port being removed ?

Anyone know for sure ?

Many thanks for any constructive answers.

The ships are still there. If the enemy gets an army into the hex they can pick up the the ships.

ok thanks for that.

Those ships will remain safe and sound as no navy can get them. The owner can bring in an army and sail away though…Sorry guy

But a navy can issue a 270 order, can it not and destroy them!

Starkhorn specified it was a non-shore and (now) no harbor/port hex. So, no 270 order.

You are correct missed that

There’s an odd quirk in the rules where armies have a one-time option of retrieving ships left offshore, even if the harbor/port is gone.

This applies often for the QA at Vamag – it’s common to anchor ships then blow the harbor, and later decide to move those troops to Lugarlu. Oddly, you can still get the ships and sail there.

Strange, eh? It’s as if you keep them on a tow-rope when you go to blow the docks.

Afterward, you can’t go back. Once you’ve got 'em, you can’t anchor again at a harbor-less non-shore hex.

Whether this still applies when the pc is gone, I dunno. But I mention it because – against all logic – it’s possible that an army from that same nation could go get those ships.

Same as for fort upgrades. HAs to do with processing order. A one time deal too. Wait longer than 1 turn and the chance goes begging.
