Okay, we’ve complained to them and nothing has been heard back. They haven’t removed us from the spam list so if you are in any games with team-mates with AOL accounts then please inform them. Maybe they can set-up an yahoo or Hotmail account until we can get this sorted.
You might recall we had a similar problem with MSN. It eventually got sorted but not before a lot of emails to them and assistance by you. If you can contacct AOL if you are a customer and demand that they sort this out (we’ve sent several emails and normally I prefer less aggressive language but we’re pretty much being ignore by them).
I’ve sent a couple of emails to them and talked online to their help desk. Not had a great response, but I suggest that other AOL users contact them asap and apply some pressure.
Hi,
The reported AOL problem has also been encountered by other GMs and
companies running PBeM game turns. Here at Flagship magazine we have
asked AOL to comment on these problems, quoting several examples of
the problem, but we have yet to receive a reply. Should we eventually
receive an answer I’ll let everyone on this list know what they say.
My own personal opinion (in no way associated with Flagship’s
position) is that, based on AOL’s service alone (ie total lack of
response) people should give serious thought as to taking their custom
elsewhere.
I’ve had no problem whatsoever with receiving turns or other emails from MEGames through AOL.
For anyone having trouble, I’d suggest making sure that me@middleearthgames.com isn’t on your blocked list, and then make sure that it is in your address book.
Given that spam filtering is controlled by the user, I don’t know that there’s anything AOL could or should do to unblock MEGames. However, AOL certainly could point out to their customers how to set the spam controls themselves.
