">Just thinking about the ftf game of 1650 that took place on the 29th
December in Cardiff. I believe you started at 9.30am and finished at
10.00pm? That's 12 and a half hours of gameplay. And you only managed to
get to turn 7!!! Just what where you doing!!
It took longer to get things going than we expected and turns turn longer
as
we did not have a dedicated Gm for inputting which slowed things down a
fair
bit. I think we can improve on that next time around."

I reckon it must take at least an hour just to enter the orders and print
the results. How close am I, Clint?
You could try starting the game via email (weekly turns) about two months
before the con and play it to as close to the conclusion as possible on the
day. Nations would certainly be eliminated as the day progressed so the
turns would get quicker. Allow, say, fifteen minutes for each team to get
its orders together and you could have a winner. In all senses of the term.
Fifteen minutes give people plenty of time to mess things up.
To make it even quicker... Have a map display showing current army
locations (location only, not size or commander ID). Gives non-players
something to look at. People like maps with flags on 'em!
Just a thought.
