Armies being fed question

If a commander of an army with 1 food in pc big enough to feed rest of army
does tranfer cmd order to second army in hex w/o any food,

does the second army then move as fed that same turn?

ie: food put into baggage w/780 order, computer ID's second army as having
food when move order is executed (850 order)

Yes.

Short answer -- when it comes time for an army to move, NOTHING else from earlier in the turn matters. All the program does when the move order is resolved is check the baggage train of the army that is moving. Got any food at all? If yes, the army moves at full speed, if no, the army moves at x4/3 (round up) cost for each hex.

Forget "fed or not fed" earlier in the turn -- it does matter at the time, but only for morale purposes. So in your example, of the two armies, the one with 1 food will gain morale, the other will not.

NOTE that since both armies are in the same hex and of the same nation, if the pop center is feeding one then it is trying to feed BOTH -- and regardless of the baggage train situation for each army, the food will be distributed proportionately to both armies. Therefore, if you have more total troops in the two armies than the pop center can feed, your first army will eat that 1 unit of food and you'll be out of luck. But you could pick up or buy food such that the army does have some food left, without having to feed the other army fully.

Lets say for example army 1 has 200 HI and 1 food, and army 2 has 1800 HI and 0 food, and they are at a town. So a town, capable of feeding 1000 HI, is trying to feed 2000 HI. It will give 100 food (1/10 of the total available) to the 200 HI army and 900 food (9/10 of the total available) to the 1800 HI army, because the 200 HI are 1/10 of the total troops there and the 1800 HI are 9/10 of the total troops there. So you can figure the 200 will get 100 food from the townsfolk, if you bought another 100 food for that army alone, then it would effectively have 201 available -- 101 in baggage train and 100 from the townsfolk -- it would eat 200 and have 1 left. The 1800 HI would get 900 food from the townsfolk, 900 HI would eat it all and the other 900 HI would go hungry. Then you do the 780 -- in EITHER direction, 200 into 1800 or 1800 into 200 -- and the combined force could then move at full speed.
