Quite apart from the normal speculation that it is
very easy for 1
family member to dominated by the other to one
degree or another,it
stretches credulity to suggest that the 2 nations
are truely neutral
& might declare in different directions
Actually if I was playing in a game with one of my
family members, I would ask that he go into the other
side (so that I can beat the crap out of him in a
friendly sort of way).
If was playing a game with a friend or family member
who didn't have a clue about middle earth, then I
would get them to join the same side as me (and even
throw them 'strong' suggestions on what they should
do). But once they knew what they were doing, then
they can control their own fate.
Family don't always support each, and they could get
special enjoyment by bashing their kin (especially if
they are brothers).
I wholeheartedly disagree with pre allied neutrals,
yeap. I love games with pre-set neutrals (where the
neutrals have to declare for a certain side on t1),
but in a normal game I dislike neutrals that have
already declared for a side before the game starts.
But I'm fine with neutrals (even family members)
working together. It just common sense for the
corsairs and harad to work together (rather than
tearing themselves apart for others to grab whatever
is left).
Why they went for the easterlings instead of the QA is
beyond me, but maybe they were going dark. Its also
possible that the Corsairs used his brain and worked
out your easterlings were about to attack him. He then
called for help from the nations near him, and got the
harad to agree. I'm also fine with that.
and think that
there should be a strong supposition that a 'family'
would play as
pre allied, and I guess I am disappointed that
Harlequin allowed this. What do others reckon?
i'm fine with family members playing together. Just
because they know each other since year dot doesn't
mean they are going to work together. And I would even
allow them to play different sides in a game.
I might get a little worried if one was say dark, and
another neutral, and the neutral declared for the dark
without a fair hearing from the free. But if a side is
that stupid, then I wouldn't worry about their playing
ability.
But as for two neutrals working as a team (even when
they are family or close friend) ? Thats fine with me.
Middle earth is a team game after all.

p.s I liked Clint's recent email
pps In 1650 g34 I regularly allowed for SG to go to NG
support when planning my DS Harad orders. When he
sailed down a huge navy/army to destroy one of my m/t
(instead of sending them out to help out his family
member), I was 'shocked'.
