Automagic & Open Office

Hi All,

Does anyone use Open Office on a Linux Operating System?

If you do… how do you use Automagic? I have heard that Microsoft Office won’t run on Lunux… so investigating whether Open Office can do.

On the subject… does anyone know if Palantir or MEAssist or JOverseer will work on Linux?

Cheers in Advance

Michael

Michael,
I don’t think that Automagic will work with OpenOffice as it uses alot of Vbscript macros to perform alot of the clever stuff inside it. I don’t think that OpenOffice has a Vbscript compiler in it so I doubt it will work with that.

Cheers,

Gavin

Anything Java based should work - so JOverseer should work and possibly also Palantir (though you’d need to check on those).

I haven’t personally tried JOverseer on a Linux box, but it works fine on Mac and Windows, so I’m confident that it will work great on Linux. I can confirm that Automagic will not work with OpenOffice because of the scripts/macros. In fact, Automagic also does not work with MSOffice for Mac 2008 for the same reason.

ME Assist is Windows. JOverseer is Java (the J…). I’d assume Palantir is Window’s also, but that should be a non issue as MEA or JO give better maps and information, JO allows you to create and upload orders. All other software should be discontinued, IMO…

Thanks for the replies Guys

Michael,

I tried OpenOffice too and unfortunately it lacks the functionality of Windows so I bought the Windows Student Edition.
