I suspect the answer would be "least team-play = most likely loss". I've
already looked at this and have to deal with it on a day-to-day basis. The
major complaints are that "Fred" hasn't been in contact, won't conform to
the "plan" (whatever the plan and its elements are, such as sharing turns,
army/agent/em movements, sharing resources etc) and wants to do his own
thing. The second one is that often a strong personality has caused
conflict within the team. (I know I do that myself sometimes so ask once,
back down twice is my personal motto nowadays for individual games!) Turns
missed, no replacement players comes in about 3rd.

The team with the ability to conform to a team-plan, implement it and take
out "lone-wolfs" and other objectives on the opposition is most likely to
succeed IMO. Add in 5 neutrals and you get the opportunity the better
diplomats to gain an advantage to a side. I put out a Bree with the spread
of Neutrals, average length of game and so on which is interesting reading
here.

What I would suggest is some serious research into the problem by Clint
or someone he nominates. It would start with a detailed chat with each
of the players in a recently collapsed game, to find out what went
wrong. I don't know, for example, how many brand new players are
allowed into each game... how many players don't make e-mail contact at
all in each game... how many players don't make contact more than once
per turn... how many players share their turns... how many players share
draft orders etc. Collecting that kind of data from each team in a
recently collapsed game would help to start to put a finger on the
problem and perhaps lead to some suggestions for intelligent solutions.

Well, when Laurence and I agree so eloquently, you just know that Clint
has litle choice but to follow the Wisdom...

Yes. Or share pdfs/xmls, no email or other such. Players mostly complain about other players though... You think I get bitched about a lot you should see my in-tray... LOL

Mostly though players DO get on with each other, like society in general, people get on, live their lives and so on. Ditto the ME community.
