Quick reminder. Check that when you send in a turn that you get an auto-receipt as it's only going to frustrate you if, as very occasionally happens, we've not received your turn and you get Special Serviced. Email is not 100% efficient, ie it doesn't always deliver your emails to us (and vice-versa as many of you who've asked for a reprint for a missing turn will be plenty aware - they've always been sent out but they don't always get to you).
Ideally I recommend that you send your turns in early to avoid the potential problem. It doesn't happen very often but when it does it can disrupt your gaming pleasure enormously.
Thanks again...
Clint
Spam on list
Do you want me to keep the list open to all to join (and hence we will continue to get occasional spam) or moderated for people to join (not moderation of emails - you can post what you want within the guidelines given)?

I'm a big fan of "moderated" lists. I have one I'm administrator on and it
costs me about 1 hour a month.

I'm personally not too troubled by the current level at the
moment. What gets to me by the list is just a fraction of what gets
to me direct. But it's a matter of degree. If it continues to grow,
then I think yes, you may have to move to moderated status.

Moderation of letting people join the list. This COMPLETELY eliminated all
spam instantly.
Basically, you set a page for sign in that says: Tell me why you want to
join. The person writes a short (even 1 word) answer. Then you just hit
reply when it shows up in your "in box". If you don't reply, they never get
signed up. You have 2 or 3 days, I think, to hit reply, so I guess if
someone logged in on Friday at like 4:00 p.m. your time, there's a chance
they could time out if you guys don't check email by Monday. I'm unclear on
that part, though. Still, I've had ZERO complaints.
The reason it works is that 99% plus of this stuff is all computer generated
so there is no way for the "bots" to read your trick question.

Fanatics at www.theonering.com are especially adept at answering riddles from the Tolkien universe. Those people are like a cult unto themselves - they know just about every word and every letter everywhere concerning Middle Earth. That too is a good resource for "canon" info, but then again, some of you may already be members.
