Bree 33 now out...

Anyone have a chance to look at the stats for the game end stuff in Bree? Lots of interesting choice bits of information there I found.

Hi Clint,

Wanted to download if from the website but it seems the link to “News from Bree 33” links to the PDF of Bree 32.

I may have misread, since I did only skim… but it appears that for 1650 normal games… neutrals manage to join the winning side more than they join the losing side…

So why do so many aligned nations find it so hard to send out diplos to neutrals???

It would be interesting to get neutrals to write in why they joined a particular side… might throw up some real underlying reasons… I bet non communication from 1 side is high on the list.

I perfer to play nuetrals… My reasons vary from game to game… But first it should be understood why I perfer nuetrals over aligned… It’s purely the challenge of it… I believe nuetrals can have a huge impact on whatever side they chose…

I do look for good friendly comunication… by several of the same side sending emails on how thier game is going you can get a picture of the game and how well they work as a team…

Teamwork is another factor I look at… A team of great indiviual play will fail against a team of average skill working together…

But in every game I seek the greatiest challenge… so If Harad and Corsiars in 1650 make it clear they are going DS Me being for example being Rhaudar would be left with a tough choice… In normal game with everyone being undecided and waiting… I would side with DS but in this case I may go either way…

One thing that doesn’t mean squat to me… Artifacts ! you could offer me Ring of Wind and tinculin that only shows me your team is desperate and foolish! Even with Dun’s a his good mages they would be way down on the list on who should get tinculin… RoW once again should go to a minimum of 6 other agents besides any agent the Duns could make… So i would consider that team foolish also and more apt to side against that team …

Now every nuetral player is not challenge based as thier reason for picking a nuetral position… Aligned players should try to learn about the player and why he chose to be nuetral to begin with… If it’s a PRS chaser then of course he will not commit to any side until the last possible moment then chose only the side he believes is winning. he just wants to be the player to have the highiest nation success for his position…

Nuetral should offer their email address at game start… They should most definitely email all the other nuetrals to get a feel what they are doing… Where they are leaning… They often feel safe to discuss what they expect from this game… And they exchange their feelings about the friendlilness of each side , thier teamwork but most important how the 2 sides are fairing against each…

Nuetrals failing to commuincate are at huge risk… Diplomacy is thier lifeblood until they are ready to join in the frey…

Finally it must always be remembered nuetrals also get into wars with other nuetrals long before committing to a team… In 1650 harad and corsairs get into wars over camp locations… Rhuadar and Duns simply depending on which way Rhuadar/Duns believe they will side with…

So best of luck in your diplomacy with nuetrals and just hope you have a former nuetral verteran on your team to help try and analyze what the diplos are saying and sometimes more impoartnatly not saying.

I play 60% neutral and have seen a steady decline in diplomacy over the last 4 or so years. Surprising from the old mail days, methinks…

As a “neutral veteran” when I play open games on an Allegiance, leading and/or guiding diplomacy, I’ve never had less than 3 neuts on “my team”, and have had 4 often and even all 5 relatively frequently. How? Talking often, providing meaningful information and make intelligent offers. Standing by one’s word and ensuring the communication is as much a Team endeavor as individual. There’s a certain social dynamic to this game that neuts can’t even begin to assess if kept far away in the dark. So they shrug and either go against poor diplomats, or more often than not nowadays (as they’re all poor diplomats…) choose a side and run with it as a virtual gunboat…

I did, being a numbers geek myself. Interesting stuff – and thanks for posting it.

I don’t remember details at the moment, but I do recall being surpised at some of the stats.
