Capturing Camps

Hello gents,

Can anyone tellme what will happen if issue capture popcens on an enemy camp? I have more than enough HI to destroy it.

Thanks in advance.

If you have enough to destroy it, you will probably capture it. Capturing causes the Population Center to degrade by one level.

Given that it is a Camp, it will degrade into a Ruins.

In other words, you’ll destroy it.

Plus a destroy order is better for morale and you’ll take fewer losses.

“Destroy” does give a bigger morale permanent boost to the army and temporarily boosts army strength for the duration of combat, but the order does not cause fewer losses. The strength boost does not result fewer losses because PC combat lasts only one round.

The main advantage to capturing a camp is that you hurt the loyalties of your enemy’s other PCs. The destroy order does not hurt your enemy loyalties except in an incidental way (say by destroying the capital for example).

One of the main advantages to destroying is that you don’t necessarily leave ruins behind. This is helpful if you don’t want the site to be re-camped at. For example, if you are FP and the camp is in in dragon territory you might want to destroy it.

Ah, there it is. An excellent summary, Mr. Smith. Thank you.

Capture=Loyalty hit upon the enemy.
Destroy=Bigger Army Morale improvement, Ruins deprivation.

(Ruins are believed to be easier to [re-]Camp.)

Thank you.
