Hey there,
This is to those lucky few who were able to attend the FtF event this
last weekend... (attempting to live vicariously through your
attendance)
How did the event go?
Any interesting stories?
Envious in MN, USA.

Having just woken up after 36 hours sleep (there was a lot of catching up to
do) I would agree with David.
2 games were played and great fun was had, though I never want to see
another pizza ever again.
As for anecdotes - the pace being what it was mistakes happen all too
easily, and accidenal bankruptcies can happen to even the most experenced
players.....
I would certainly play F2F again - it's somehow more personal, knowing that
the opposition is in the other room, rather than on the other end of a
computer.
Cheers
Simon

Having just woken up after 36 hours sleep (there was a lot of
catching up to do)
Monday
2.30am - arrive home (the train was only one and a half hours late)
2.40 am - sleep
11 am - wake up, have bath (a long weekend of MEPBM gets a little
odiferous)
1.30pm - go back to sleep
8pm - wake up and eat pizza (WHY???)
12pm - back to sleep
Tuesday
9am - finally wake up properly.
Ftf MEPBM? It's the only way to play. Got a turn this morning by the
usual method and am already bored waiting for the results to come
back. I don't want to wait another two weeks!
Congratulations to all on both sides, esepcially to the non-veterans
on my team who did so well (Mark, you were an excellent Noldo and BS
and Pete, you kept delivering the goods as the Fire King).
Congratulations also to Clint for not going brankrupt in the second
game. Least said the better about the first one eh?
Colin

*** Yeh I'll write something but if a player can do so that's fine as well. Sleep was good to have afterwards though...

another pizza ever again. As for anecdotes - the pace being what it was mistakes happen all too

*** Yeh cough. What everyone should know and this is very embarrassing to please don't tell anyone (well go on then). is that I managed to blow up the Rhudaur (as DS) very early in the game. Lucky enough Stu was kind enough to say "heh Clint you've blown up your nation" just as I was about to go to bed - so not much sleep was had by me... Luckily enough someone came up with a good idea for dealing with this. (I had considered it as a GM before had but it's only the 2nd time it's happened.) I would count myself as a quite experienced player and reasonably good at games, so it's just mortifying from my perspective and I was much the figure of fun (and rightly so!!)
I would certainly play F2F again - it's somehow more personal, knowing that
the opposition is in the other room, rather than on the other end of a
computer.
*** Yeh great fun for that - lots of taunting. In the 2nd game (the DS resigned after a while as there were 2 more nations bankrupt for many reasons that would take decades to discuss and go into the nitty gritty of) playing the QA (I swopped teams to make up some numbers) I lost Adunaphael to a Corsair character in a challenge and an army with it and it's great fun to see the face and hear the whoops of delight from the opposition in such circumstances. (Most players congregate outside - it was boiling hot - to have a drink and a chat inbetween turns and to taunt the opposition).

** We have showers.... should have mentioned it...

*** Yes the biggest danger of the FTF game is that even 1wk games seem slow afterwards.

*** Yep laurels to the new player. Oystein had a rough time against the Rhudaur and the WK attack, and the Noldo (Mark) was a right pain in the posterior in the 1st game. 2nd game good play from Chris Littlejohn held the QA/Harad off.
Congratulations also to Clint for not going brankrupt in the second

*** Yes I was VERY cautious about that in the 2nd game....

Yes - but but for someone who knows the rules that well to go bankrupt on
turn 2 is still quite impressive.

Yeah, I had some problems in the first game, thanks to Chris C for
helping me fend off the mad rush of DS troops. I felt I did better in
the second game as the Long Rider.
Overall a fun weekend of gaming

*** Sorry for that Oystein. From our point of view we wanted to try something that we had not done - lucky them Hobbits rushed to your defence - good olde 'obbits...
