cat amongst the pigeons

As a FP player, I am annoyed by the frequency with which my characters get
nobbled by spiders when they are at one of my pops.

If they are at a pop, they should be safe inside the walls whilst doing
their inf own, prentice or whatever.

But no, the program assumes (with total lack of logic) that they are
wandering in the wilderness OUTSIDE the pop. The description of the
encounter is very clear that it takes place in the wilderness.

Ideally, the program should be able to distinguish between characters INSIDE
a pop (safe from encounters with monsters from the wilderness) and those
OUTSIDE (possibly hostile) who should be vulnerable to such encounters.

If this is not possible, is it possible to negate/disallow/cancel monster
(spider/dragon etc) encounters at pops? There is NO justification for
spiders or dragons to invade pops (unless recruited - see later)!

Once a pop is ruined, it's a different matter. Ruins positively encourage
spiders/dragons looking for carrion/plunder/unwary adventurers.

Howls of protest from DS players: how are we going to recruit dragons if
they are prohibited from visiting our pops? The answer is simple: you send
guys out into mountain/rough hexes where there are no pops and hope you get
lucky. Magic might help. Recruiting dragons should NOT be easy! Always,
always, if you want a dragon's help, YOU have to go hunting the dragon. You
don't expect the dragon to come knocking on the gate of your village saying
'please can I join you?' Well do you?

Whadya think, Clint, players?

If this diverts attention from poxy GWCs it will have done its job.

Regards,

Richard.

This aspect of ME has always annoyed me, too. It would have been so simple
for the programmers to fix...
