Darrel the Web-Master: You might find this entertaining. Having some problems with my personal computer. So, on my next trip to town for supplies (30 miles of country road away) I went into the local library to check this forum.
The library’s computer accessed the Middle Earth site but refused to go to this forum, since it might contain ‘inappropriate’ material. I asked the librarian about it and she said they have screening software and it seems to have ID the forum as possibly inappropriate for children. There was an administrative appeal process if I wished to make use of it. From her careful choice of words I could tell she thought I was trying to reach a porno site.
Weird, I wonder what kind of screening software they use… Maybe there are a few potty-mouth threads or something. I feel bad for the library, they are probably in a position where it is more accepatble to have a number of “false positives” than it would be to allow something to “slip through”.
I’m surprised they have the internet where Ed lives, frankly, don’t libraries down there burn all books written by Yanks? I’m guessing the forum’s only crime is a host computer listed as north of a certain line…?
