This is the way I always play as a FP. It can really hurt the DS if all
the FP place as many camps as possible. Actually it is usually how I play
any position which might explain why the FK in Game 58 has two pages of Pop
Centres (on the mail turns <turn 7>)

RD: Understood. I'm just taking part in the discussion, but playing
'devil's advocate' if you like. You guys in North America have been
playing the game a lot longer than us in Europe, and it's interesting to

that your FP use mass camp building as a game-winning strategy whilst the
team I usually play with is still divided over its usefulness.

Surely this could be countered by the DS naming more emis themselves?

I see your point that if starting with an E40, Nor could name 3 more, but
would any player dare do so? Nor is bound to lose pops to a competent DS
team, and needs new coms to hire armies to defend them. If DS keep taking
Nor pops because he has only named emis, Nor loy will tumble everywhere and
the extra camps created by the E40s will not last long. Correct me if I'm
wrong!

Richard.

I am currently playing for the first time in a FA:1000
game and someone mentioned that all neutrals had to
declare FP/DS by turn 12 or be stuck as a Neutral. I
have been looking in the rules and on the boards, and
while I have found backhanded references to this, I
have found nothing difinitive. Does anyone know if
this is indeed true? I know the answer is probably
right under my nose, but some how I have missed it.
Thanks.

Look at the order, Change Allegiance, 175. It says that turn 12 is the
drop dead on changing status.

Have fun.
