Darrell, what’s that fix again to solve the constant logout problem? Some kind of browser setting, if memory serves.
Perhaps it should be posted as a sticky.

Cookies. Have to have your security settings all the way down - Tools, Internet Options, Privacy.
Yeah, it’s a cookie problem. When you log in, the site tries to save your login info in a cookie on your machine so you don’t have to keep logging in. Unfortunately, the forum plods along happily even after the site fails to actually write the cookie, letting you think tht everything’s cool. Of course, the first time you do anything that requires you to actually be logged in, the site says “Hey, you’re not logged in!” Which tends to catch people by surprise, since the site did after all thank you for logging in, and it didn’t say anything about the fact that it was just kidding and you’re not really logged in.
Very annoying, but I have no clue what to do about it. I guess the people who make the software just assume that everyone knows everything about how cookies work, or maybe that I have nothing better to do with my time than describe how to get around cookie security settings.
It all ends well, though. You can either set your browser to some low security so the cookies write properly, but if you’re a bit more securioty conscious, you can tell it to just allow cookies from this site. Hopefully, the site you’re visiting starts with “www.mepbm.com”, but there are a bunch of links and redirects and rewrites so who knows, you may still be seeing “pbmforum.com” in the URL field for all I know. (Which just makes the whole cookie thing more complicated, because your browser thinks your visiting “pbmforum.com” but the cookie says it’s from “mepbm.com” which really makes the security settings freak out.)
Whew, it feels good to finally get all of that out. Very cathartic. And just to top it all off, older (unsupported, of course) versions of the forum software used to have an option that allowed you to browse the forum without cookies by sending along your login information in an encrypted string along with the URL on every link you clicked. While this was a little less elegant, it was at least an option. I guess the software maintainers decided that form wins out over function. Not that I’m bitter or anything.
So yeah, cookies.
Your wish is my command. poof
Anyone using IE is very well adviced to be on guard, you have a chance to open up the IE internal security by adding this site to trusted and granting it cockie rights.
