I have never had to learn curses.
Do you need to possess the artifact to learn each successive spell (easy, average and difficult) or do you just need the artifact to learnt the first and then you can transfer it away and continue learnign the rest?

You need the artefact on the mage in time for his 705 order. I.e. you can not transfer the artefact from one mage with the 360 order, and then learn the spell at the 705 order, but the other way around works fine.

Yes, you need to have the artifact in your posession at the time the 705 order is given for all three spells.
