Death by impalement

I would like to throw my army against the walls of a PC in order to put it under siege.

I know that this is dangerous for my commander.

Exactly what are my chances of coming out of the attack alive, even with 1 health?

Thanks for any help…

Depending on how big your army is and what kind of pop/fortification your trying to jump on.
If your army is big enough to survive the attack but you don’t get the pop your armycommander will survive or else he most likely will die in the assault.
Try to run Holger Eichmanns combat sim. this will give you good picture if you survive or not.

Cheers,
Ben

It’s called Suicide. Either your army’s constitution is greater than the pop’s defenses (what they throw at you) as per Benny above, or you die. Some people love throwing 10 com’s with 100 MA over and over again at enemy pops in the event that enemy has few of them and the resulting Seige effects would cause him considerable harm. The FP have the money to use this as an economic weapon.

OK thanks. For some reason I thought that a commander could survive under certain circumstances, if his army got pasted on the walls.

He can survive though usually the commander goes splat also.

In an ongoing game we had an army with 500HC and Lamthanc try and attack Dilgul [town, no forts]. Although the army was destroyed and the PC wasn`t captured both commander and dragon survived.

I am pretty sure fortifications is the big determining factor if your commander will survive or not. If you attack a pop center with forts, and your army does not have sufficient const to survive, then your commander dies.

I have a commander that survived attacking a City/Fort with 174HI. I think there is a small chance to survive and you need to be lucky.
