Hi guys
We've changed the way we run things somewhat since I've taken it over. Rob would be in the in the morning, I'm generally in in the afternoon.
However, I generally do this part-time, so illness, funerals, family life, and other life things get in the way a little. But then I work in the evening more. Also the games that Andy is in have a tendency to have players "oh last minute" stuff I've found (more individual games are more like that). We're training up staff (and to be fair I've had to re-learn everything here including the old and the new systems).
SS turns generally destroy a game so I push more to get a player (or his team-mate) to get orders in so wait for that more. There's about an 80% chance that a player SS that game quickly dives into a concession.
"GSI were rigid to the extreme."
Yes I agree, they were and it caused a lot of drop-outs.
"but rules are rules.and should be adhered to."
Indeed, and we do, holding up processing until a turn comes in when a player says he will is a courtesy that we extend.
An example of us being strict was a certain player was on honeymoon - he came back and we had SSed his game. At that point he was playing 5 games and dropped them all. We had stuck to the rules, emailed and reminded the player and attempted to contact him, but all to no avail.
So I find that it's better to look after the player base, with the understanding that we will run if too delayed (some games have had that) but endeavour to be as helpful as we can. So in a perfect world all players would get their turns in on the DUE Date so that we can deal with any issues. (One relatively common one is a player sends in a turn from last set of orders not this one).
"(A second rant is that they have moved my Tuesday games to Wednesdays and my Friday games to Thursdays, so I tend to have my timing cramped to get orders for multiple games done all at once.)"
I do believe I emailed you all to ask if that would be a problem to which the one game where it was I kept it where it was, if you don't get back to me I can't help!
Well I recommend doing your turns earlier for the GB games (it's common for lots of GB players to do their orders when they get the game back as there's no diplomacy, and their non-GB games where there's lots of emails/chat back and fore to be more later in the cycle). Unfortunately I had 7 games running one day and none the other day so it was not advisable and meant that some other players were running 3 games on one day, which I think is not a good idea.
"ME Games, please ignore the whining."
We I won't ignore it as such as it's key that we look after all our player's concerns. That's not just hot air! So I hope I've explained why things are the way they are. We've spent a lot of time developing the game recently so although with Rob the turns were being processed early, little else was being done, now it's more of a juggle to make sure the guys have got their stuff to do for the day and that the turns are in then I get around to dealing with emails and (the phone just rang.... ) and responding to stuff like this. So I'm not presently running the turns... lol.
As an amusing, well for me, point, I do belive I might have contacted both Msrs Wright and Richman asking them to get their late orders in as well... lol. But I appreciate that life gets in the way and that turns are forgotten, put to the side or whaever so I've found that this system is working better atm, (from 11 games to 26 atm with 2 more on the way).

Is it just me?, Of late, it seems that my Middle Earth turns are subject to delayed processing, Normally preceded by the generic, "waiting for one players orders.....snip" email.
Some (sad?) peoples lives are set on a fourteen day cycle, like mine. Over a period of many years, as the addiction grows the only way to stave off the irritability / anxiety is to up the dosage.
As long as the dosage is maintained regularly, no long term damage should result.. At the moment i can empathise how a junkie feels when his regular dealer gets nicked.
There was a time of day when house rules dictated that if a player hadn't submitted orders and no shadow orders were to hand, said player would be special serviced. GSI were rigid to the extreme.
Sadly special service now seems to hav e a new meaning, like its okay to input your orders in late, we will wait for you, and keep all your allies / enemies waiting for their fix. I appreciate occasionally things go wrong, like servers going down, staff being ill etc but rules are rules.and should be adhered to.
Ok, rant over, queue Brad B, at least i will have something to chuckle about whilst i wait for my 41 fix to materialise, currently 16 days and counting...... Now the coffee has run out too, and my nearest Star Bucks is over ten miles away!
