There is probably some truth to the "elitist" comment, but most experienced players are happy to help new players. Sometimes that can be burdensome. I was in one game with eight new or near new players and the 10th man (experienced) quit under mysterious circumstances. Many man hours were expended explaining why you can't move from one mountain hex to another without a road, etc. Six of those players later went on to another ME game. I liked the whole lot of them and I think they felt the same way about all their team mates. We lost but we threw a scare into the DS by finding the ONE RING.
