Hi all, anyone knows what's the safest way to escape this beastie? I had a
character flee a few turns ago only to be made into a snack. I've heard that
'wait' is relatively safe. Any experiences? (this is in a 2950 game)
Thanks!
Haris

RD: 'Wait' has worked for me several times in 1650. The character gets away
unhurt. I expect it's the same in 2950. I don't know any way to get
anything useful out of this enconter.
Richard.

Twice I've stood STILL and made an escape.

Actually, if your character has over a 100 challenge rank, pick a fight.
The demon has somewhere around a 90 challenge rank. I encountered it 3
times in a 4th Age game, "Waited" the first two times and the last time was
with a mage with a 113 challenge rank. I chose the "step out and say
something" reaction (I forget the actual text), but I beat the demon up and
got about 17,000 gold and a Teleport Spell.

Perhaps I had extra-ordinary luck, but I responded "Ask" with Virsh
of the Ice King, then A45, E54, Challenge 39, and was attacked by the
demon. Virsh slew the demon. Virsh had no artifacts. Virsh lost 45
health. I got 28,000 gold. I was not believed. The disbelief was
widely disseminated ( Mouth of Sauron ).
But, I still had an unanticipated 28,000 gold.
Game #68 (1650, GSI), turn 19.
Maybe I had extra-ordinary luck. Maybe the demon has been improved.

Hi,
I don't remember the ranks involved, but I think that the Dark Lieutenants
killed the Demon with a low-ranking emmy in game 315. I don't have that pdf
anymore, but Joel could probably tell us.
By the way - if there are any 315 Freeps out there - give it up already...

It was 315 turn 3. Balkhmog E30(55) with artifact # 37, Voice of the
Dark Tower, Challenge 27, who chose to create camp and move, improved
to an E39(64), Challenge 32. Ignored the demon and was attacked. The
demon lost. Balkhmog lost 27 health. 10,000 gold. A much better
showing than I had with Virsh. Except, I got more gold.
Do not persuade them to give up yet, they will miss my surprise.
