Digest Number 1061

Clint,
I was really just in a venting mood.. know what I mean?
Yes I would call the games I have gotten into.. "bad luck on my part".
Though I will correct you on which positions I have chosen, for the last
2 2950 games I tried to join (not stand by positions).
I have tried to get the Witch King both times, but you sent me a letter
telling me both times that the Witch King position was already requested
my numerous people. You asked if I would choose other nations, so I did.
Do not worry, I am not upset in any way.. just frustrated with teammates
is all. And if any of you teammates are reading this, then too bad..!
8-p

Anyways, if you have 2 positions available and I can reserve both the
Witch King and the Dragon Lord, then I will join this game.

I am TIRED of playing in 2950 games with new players (aka Newbies)

running

the Witch King and the Dragon Lord..! Every game I have played
2950 so far.. new players.. sure I love to have new players in the

game..

but why Clint.. WHY.. do they always get the hardest positions to play?

**** I try to put new players in the safer positions. Just bad luck in
your case I would guess. But if you put down for other nations then
you'll
get them in the order that you prioritise them. So if you put WK 1st
then
I'll put that one as top priority. With that in mind I checked your
positions and could not really find what you meant:

Your choices were Cloud Lord, Cloud Lord , Fire King, (Sindar and North
Gondor 1650)

The one where you were FK your ally was the WK., the CL late game was
mixed
postal and email - I think they are experienced just not very good.

The game you are currently in as the CL as it is still active I don't
think
it's fair to comment. (I can comment off list if you want).

If you want to play in a game with lots of experience then you need to
join
a Grudge game (I have a team looking for some DS but it might be a while

before that game starts). Another option is 1650 which has a higher
(general) skill level required (and consequently stronger players).

I always ask to play the Witch King, and am always turned away from the
position, "it is already filled", or "I have 3 people wanting that
position" I refuse to sign up for another game unless I am the Witch
King, or someone that has some experience is playing the position.

**** The system I use is that I use a waiting list. You send me a list
of
nations you want to play - the more the better. It's takes a lot of
work
to get it right at my end but I have found it speeds up game starts by
around a factor of 3. Does this mean you want to sign up for the as the
WK
or Dragon Lord in game 236, 2950 2wk? That leaves just one player -
would
David want to play the Dragon Lord then? Cool game started. Je tu
challenge... (In all humour).

*** Yeh I don't half.. No worries I vented a bit myself (I know I am not supposed to but sometimes, you just wanna say "you looking at me...")

Anyways, if you have 2 positions available and I can reserve both the

Witch King and the Dragon Lord, then I will join this game.

*** Will do and will send them out as that fills the game - can you get in touch with me off list with the names for these positions (it's a 1 nation game).

Clint

*** Will do and will send them out as that fills the game ...

Hey Clint!

I never received any response on my list of preferred nations that I
sent you. Did you get it and am I in this game?

Thanks,
Rick

Ok, I have no intention of getting into a flame war with Mr. Tilley...

However, I HAVE tried to contact Clint at the address Mr. Tilley
sited. Mr. Tilley, I understand your wish to conserve bandwith and I
won't continue this thread any longer and I appologize if this post
is or appeared off topic. I would like to point out that since the
NORMAL email communications only gave me auto response emails and no
NORMAL response was forthcoming; I resorted to an alternate means of
communication. Any belief that I would CALL Clint is frankly wrong
(I will NOT make an international call, period. Nor will I fax
him.) Again I appologize to the 300+ recipients....

My only request is that Mr. Tilley would have emailed me personally
instead of tying that SAME LIMITED BANDWITH up with his response, but
I appreciate the thought.

You know it really was a very polite request to you. Go look at it again, and see if it can _even _possibly_ be read as a flame. It was sent to the list, because that was where you had posted, and I had hoped that by politely trying to offer you some help, others might also be advised, and that the situation could be dealt with in a friendly way before someone _did_ lose their rag with you.

E-mails to me@MiddleEarthGames.com will initially get the auto-response acknowledgement, but in due course you'll get a reply from Clint or one of the other GMs. Obviously, they're not able to respond at any hour of the night, and you'll sometimes have to wait a little longer at weekends.
