Digest Number 1293 -

i've decide to stick my head in and read the lastest
letters - which is talking about the 2-1 rule
(actually its MORE than 2 to 1, but who cares when its
12 to 1). Now I don't think that the GM's pay that
much attention to how every game is going, so in
grudge games where the 2-1 rules was applied, we had
to ask the GM IF the rule should take affect. And we
generally counted how many nations we had (which is
very easy), versus how many enemies we were seeing
against us (which isn't as easy as some may be working
in the background), before we asked Clint.

Personally, I think the people in the FA game have no
hope of getting the game ended using the 2-1 rule.
While the 2-1 is a GREAT rule for grudge games. I
wouldn't automatically apply the rule to every other
game.

Here are some comments about your position, and why I
think the 2-1 should NOT be applied to your case.

1) was the game a 12-12 split at the start of the game
? If it wasn't, then I wouldn't expect the 2-1 rule to
apply. You said it was a NKA game, to me that means
free, dark, and neutral. And since players can whack
their own 'side', then the defination of 'team' is a
bit loose. While I'm willing to assume G41 had two
sides, and was a 12-12 split at the start of the game,
in general if its not a 12-12 split, then I don't
expect the rule to apply.

2) was the 2-1 rule agreed to before the game started
? The rules for grudge games are listed in the middle
earth website under news and events. If the rule
wasn't agreed to before the game, then I don't think
you should apply it

3) Yes you outnumber the bloke 12 to 1. But he might
want to see how well he goes against overwhelming
odds. I've learn heaps about how to play ME by getting
creamed.

4) Yes you are paying thru the nose to finish the
game, but that's your choice. I would second an
earlier email on having some of the players drop (and
have their positions and players taken over by the
surviving nations). And if you don't care about the
money, then take the time to do some experiments, ie
how sucessful are uncover secrets, how good are those
spells that you never normally cast ? Normally i'm too
busy trying to survive to waste time on minor stuff
like that, but when its 12 to 1, most of you will have
heaps of free orders.

5) do we have players ranking ? (which indicates how
little I read this list). Personally I wouldn't care
about ratings. If I played well, then the good feeling
of having played well would be all the reward I would
like. I would only think ranking would help harly fill
out games (its not good having a team of beginners
playing a team of great players). But I would only use
ranking as a basic guide.

6) if its not a WC game, then does it matter who won
or lost ? Have all your 12 players drop. You know you
won, and no one is going to believe the other bloke if
he starts saying that he defeated 12 players. Does it
really matter not having 'game won' on a turnsheet ?
<in a WC game, it does matter>

7) I'm not sure if I would carry out your threat to
attack the player on sight if you every meet him
again. I think each game is different, and allliances
and enemies should be decided on the game in question.
Sure you can use earlier games to decide which players
make great allies (or not), but if are stupid enough
to attack someone when it makes more sense to ally
with them (especially against a more pressing foe),
then I hope i'm not part of your alliance. Threats I
can live with, but if you were slack to him in the
past, then expect him to be slack to you now.

thanks

ps with mostly everyone away, I hope the current
turnsheets still come out this weekend ??? I think I
will find out a few hours, when it when they normally

*** I agree - we don't like to implement rule changes during game play.
