The reply to Mary's question, unfortunately in part of the digest truncated by yahoo, sets up an interesting point. It was said that you can use the name of an at start character if that character is killed. Can anyone do this, or is there any restriction in gunboat games?
What I am thinking of is if say a DS player kills, Elrond, to use the example given, can he name a new character Elrond. This is important in gunboat games since under the rules no player can act against a character know to be from the same side. As such the new Elrond could tour FP settlements with no one, other than the Noldor/Eothraim player, aware it is not the original one. Would such a character be able to operate against the free - i.e. possibly the game suystem would not be intelligent enough to recognise this was different from the original Elrond.
If they can then presumably the injured free player could then, if he realised what was going on, could act against the new Elrond. However this gives the DS player a 1st strike against each member of the FP alliance, since no communication is allowed. (More if the report does not mention who carried out the attack, or the player presumed some mistake had been made).
True there is balance in that this option is available to both sides, but it would be best, IMHO, that players know whether this is an option, or something to watch out for before they play?

Subject: Dragon names
Hi all,
My name is Mary, I'm from Brazil.
I'm reading the e-mails since a long time and just now I decided to
"participate" a little more.
I have a doubt concerning the names of the Dragons.
Supposing that I kill one dragon, may I create a new character using
its name? For instance, I kill Klyaxxar and two turns later, I
decide create a new mage called "klyaxxar".
Is it possible?
Or the name of the dragons are "blocked" for new use by the program?
Thank you in advance!
Mary
