1) middle earth games changed all but 1 relation (I
think its 4 per free/dark and the 4 neutrals gets 23
changes each - so that 20 * 4 + 4 * 23 = 172 changes).
That's a lot of work. Clint and co missed one.
I assume this is still the old thread about the Aussie team. From
here on it just gets more absurd as you go. My reading this email
makes it seem that not only did you not review your relations on your
turn sheets at game start you didn't look at them for several turns.
The onus is on you. Clint and company may have missed one and that is
understandable, but for you guys to miss this for not just the
initial turn but two or three clearly makes this your fault that
things did not work out. In my opinion Clint should set things right
from here on, but to do previous turns over would simply be rewarding
you for your inattention and should not be done.
2) we didn't check everyone's turnsheet,
Why not? Why didn't at least each team member check his own relations
with his allies and neighbors, that is just common sense.
so we didn't
notice that the corsairs tolerate the harad. ps Can I
have the DS turnsheets so that I can check them
Are you asking Clint to send you all the pdf files for all your
nations and all turns already run? If so that is simply ridiculous.
Don't you have your past turn sheets and orders sent or did you throw
them out in pique when things weren't resolved to your liking? To
request this again when it has been sent to you is unreasonable. You
have to remember it takes time both personal and machine time to
generate every turn sheet. If you want them pay to have copies made.
Offering to pay for replacement turn sheets is a reasonable request,
you shouldn't expect Middle Earth Games to absorb the cost of
duplicate turn sheets, unless you never received them in the first
place which you obviously have.
3) the corsairs had leada who changed the corsairs to
the free side and then retired. But this didn't affect
the relation between the corsairs and the harad.
4) On t1 the corsairs send some cav onto 2635 and on
T2 they attempted to burn it down.
5) on T3 when we see that the town is still there, we
chuckle as we think that the corsairs have upgraded
with the harad instead of downgrading. Like a failed
attack on 3621, we planned to cop it sweet (something
like the burnt hand teaches best).
6) the corsairs point out that he didn't upgrade, and
we notice that it was like that at the start of the
game.
So 3 turns were run before you noticed the error. Shame on you there
should be no post dated fix. Had you taken even normal care in
reviewing your turn the Corsair player would have noticed this
problem and you guys would have had ample time to get the problem
corrected quietly without even needing to resort to this public forum
to air your grievances which this email puts you guys in the worst
possible light. You should just quietly let this slip into the
archives. Clint should fix the relations and you guys should take it
from here and play on and learn to pay attention in future games.
You guys are a successful team, it cannot have been from this level
of play. Take a breath pull yourselves together and start playing
like you did to make yourselves successful. Stop making demands or
requests for free services and play on.
7) we query with middle earth game (curse, how many
times have I typed in harly only to remind myself its
a different company). They change the relation over as
soon as it was pointed out to them.
Which is exactly what should have been done. You bring up the
problem, it is something that they should correct and they do so.
What then was the complaint that started this thread out so
vociferously?
8) there is a 'difference of opinion' on what to do
with the harad town. Some players accept that the town
it still there, while others feel that the town should
have been destroyed if the relations were correct
Again however it is the house rules which you are obligated to follow
that state it is your responsibility especially in a grudge game to
ensure the set up is according to the perameters both teams
established with Middle Earth Games when the match was agreed to. The
town should remain until you destroy it because to change the
situation from what it is would be to reward you for not meeting your
responsibilities under the house rules. Not to mention that you did
not even catch this for a month and a half after the game was in
play. Play on take this as a lesson learned don't expect changes to
be made in your favor when you must admit that at least part of the
fault that creates this situation is of your own doing. The fact that
even your own teammates are in disagreement over the status of the
Haradrim town speaks volumes.
, so
it should have been destroyed when the relations were
fixed. While I don't want to name names, the corsairs
was part of the group who accepts its OK for the town
to remain in the game.
9) I was in the group that wanted the town
destroyed(heh, din isn't my real name, so I don't care
what you lot think about me).
10) one of the problems of the re-run was that Din was
PCed that turn. Its technically possible for a re-run
to see din end up losing in the new turn (i've been
there when a turn was re-run and my winning challenge
ending up losing in the new turn). This would be VERY
bad for both sides. I don't believe any of the free
would have been happy seeing Din die in such a
situation (he is down for a curse squad anyway, so its
not as if he will last much longer)
11) While its in the rules that we need to check
middle earth's changes, I willing to ignore rules and
other laws (especially in real life) that I think
suck.
Well then you definitely should suffer the consequences for ignoring
those rules and laws don't you think?
My thinking was that the town should have been
destroyed if the relations were correct.
My thinking is you should have made sure your orders would work
before you sent them in and that it shouldn't have taken 3 turns for
you to realize that Harad and The Corsairs Tolerated each other, it
is on the top of the second page of the Corsairs turn and you got
turn 0, turn 1, and turn 2 and didn't even look at it. At best this
makes you guys look sloppy, at worst stupid. I know you aren't stupid
because of the past success of your team, but you really do not have
any justifiable reasons to take your position.
It wasn't our
fault that the relations were wrong,
Sure it was. By house rules, and by definition of competent play you
should read your own turn at least and read it closely even the rule
book says that. You are responsible for that at least. Let's say you
are not exchanging pdf information with your team mates, there were
still 3 chances for the Corsair to catch this and get it corrected,
if he is staffing his pdf with his teammates then there are 36
chances to have gotten this corrected and the relations would have
been correct and the town would have fallen as you planned. You guys
failed to check and so absolutely it is your fault, you failed to
check not once but three times.
so its not our
fault the town is still there, so lets have the town
removed.
No that rewards your failure.
> 12) With the town remaining, some players decide to
leave the game. I think they are within their rights
They are absolutely within their rights. They have the absolute
choice to decide what games they want to play in. If they do so I
think in the minds of most readers of this thread they will appear to
be unreasonable and that their decision is a gross over reaction to
the situation. Kind of if I don't get my way I'm taking the ball and
going home, even though I am in the wrong I have to have it my way or
I won't play.
(I know I'm starting to enjoy Age of Wonders - Shadow
Magic, and was looking forwards to spending more time
making magic items for my heroes)
12) In the end the yanks (nice blokes that they are),
agreed with the town being destroyed. The players who
had decided to walk reversed their decision. The game
can now continue to a free victory.
It is good that the yanks took the high road. However I think you
guys in taking the action of airing this on the public forum instead
of trying to quietly resolve the issue between you the opposing team
and Middle Earth Games made yourselves look unreasonable and from
corresponding off forum with one of your teammates I know this is not
the case, but you have not done your team image any favors in this
whole process.
13) Middle earth games have extends the deadline. It
seems the free were not spending two weeks working out
how to whack a 6000 odd rhu army at 2109, but instead
spent their time talking about a minor town.
thanks
m
p.s personally my main grip with middle earth is
(1) getting SS really stuffed up your day in a grudge
game. I would like the a day or so between the
due-date and the processing date.
There already is a due date and the turns are processed the day
after. You have two weeks to get your turn in and with the game
essentially now an email game that should never be an issue. As Brad
Brunet has pointed out there is plenty of time in even one week games
to coordinate and get in your turn.
Special serviced in a grudge game, come on pull your head out, when
is the time you accept the responsibility to follow the same rules as
everyone else?
And the team leader
(and player in question) gets emails if orders are not
by the due-date. If they are still not in by the
processing date, then tough luck. Personally I would
be willing the re-do all the turns if someones orders
were stuck in the ether
As long as everyone in the game wants to pay to have turns redone I
doubt you would have a problem getting Middle Earth games to re do
all the nations turn results to accomodate any changes that
processing that special serviced turn as an on time turn. The thing I
seem to keep seeing is that you are asking for Middle Earth Games to
do additional services for you for nothing. That is unreasonable,
everything they do has a cost for them in personnel payroll or
machine time costs. Your turn fee entitles you to have your turn run
on time and accurately according to the orders that you submitted for
the turn. It does not entitle you to additional copies of your turn,
or to having after the fact changes then submitted those things
should cost you extra as they are not part of the agreed services to
be provided by Middle Earth Games. There aint no such thing as a free
lunch.
(like the aussies telsta's
bigpond email system was knackers with virsus, and the
papers were claiming it was taking days to get)
(2) my visa card that I've always used to pay middle
earth no longer works. The card provider tells me that
its a visa debit card, and not a visa credit card. And
thus can't be used. Actually its my home loan, and I
use the card as the interest is its A LOT less than a
credit card rate. So I need to get a new credit card.
My opinion only. I am not an employee of Middle Earth Games, nor am I
a member of your opposition in this game. I am a player like most of
the people who post on this board. I have no vested interest in
supporting one position or another. I have had my differences with
Middle Earth Games in the past. Some resolved in my favor others not.
I do however think that the service I have received from Middle Earth
Games has generally been better than that I received when the game
was moderated by either GSI or Deft Gaming.
