Digest Number 827

First, it could have been a coincidence... Remember, you can attempt to
generate rumours as well as uncover secrets. Or, if the rumour just said
"an encounter at so and so hex", it could be another character (maybe the
enemy?) is there and received the encounter, not you. In which case, you
could try investigating the encounter and hope they answer wrong if the
encounter is a riddle, or that they either flee or die fighting if it is
something more combative...

Subject: Encouter Rumors in Nat Messages

I had a strange thing happen in one of the games I am playing in.

An encounter message was generated in another person's turn file when
a character of mine was looking for an artifact. The character moved
to the hex and issued 900. However, I didn't find the artifact, get
an encounter, or even get a hidden trail type message. Why would an
encounter rumor get generated if there was no encounter or even a
hidden trail message? Is it possible whenever you issue order 900
that an encounter message gets generated?

Also does this mean the encounter is still in the the hex, it's just
that I didn't find the hidden trail yet?
