Dispute resolved :-)

greetings.

I've been deleting the later stuff, so forgive me if
I'm harping on what has already been talked about. but
....

if I nation has collapsed, then either
a) the players dropped, or
b) the nation falls under the normal rules, ie no
major towns/cities left.

Option (a) allows people to pick up the nation as a
standby, and option (b) doesn't.

I don't even think bankrupt nations can be picked up
(since the tax rate is too high).

I do know that the turn number doesn't increment for
nations that miss turns.

Sorry Ben, it is so. I think this is one of the
major bugs in the game
and has to be dealt with somehow. I've been in the
situation where
I've destroyed by neighbour and turned to deal with
another enemy,
just to get attacked in the back by the so called
"collapsed" nation.

yeap. If I can see that an inactive nation still has a
m/t or city left, then I like to take it over (just in
case someone wants to take over the nation). Clint
won't add pop centres to make a collapsed nation
active, but he does allow standby's to pick up a
nation.

I've also been in the situation where I dropped my
position, and the
turn I got said it was out of the game and my team
mates got
messages telling them it had collapsed, so they made
great plans
to pick up my characters, just to discover that the
nation was still
viable and after several turns could be taken over
by another player.

that's why I like to talk to my allies. When they
drop, I think to know why.

This IS indeed a major concern. Out is out. Dead is
dead. If a
nation has collapsed it can never reappear again.

I disagree. If a player drops a nation that can be
picked up by someone else, then I think someone else
should be allowed to pick it up.

And if a nation is completely stuffed by having no m/t
or cities, then it can't be picked up (since each
nation needs a capital).

These are the current rules, and i'm fine with them.

The turn number being incorrect is a problem, but I
like to talk to my allies, so I know how many turns
the game has been running, not just how many turns my
nation has put in.

Harlequin has to
either: 1) Tell all players that this is a major bug
and that they're
trying to solve the problem, but please ignore it in
the meantime.

picking up dropped nation isn't bad in my eyes.

2)

Change the text so that is says "is not active at
the moment"
ONLY.

This means that the computer needs to work out if a
nation has a capital or not. Or if it has any
characters left or not, or if it has money or not. And
it needs to do this whenever people do uncover
secrets.

I think it is easier for the computer to see if the
nation has been flagged inactive or not.

3) Inform all players in the game that player

X has been
kind enough to take over the nation Z from turn Y.

Its not the GM's role to communicate between the
players. Player X has the ability to send contact
details to all his allies to them that he has taken
over nation Z from turn Y. If player X declines to
talk, that's their decision. Its not for the GM to
overule the player decision to be silent.

4) Never give
new life to a collapsed nation.

I think we should follow the current rules.

The turn number could be nice to change, but I would
rather Clint work on other things.

thanks
din
