as per “brads orders” thread, he was pondering about threads on running nations in various scenarios, and situations. rather then go narrow i decide to start with a broad topic. dragons.
a few are freep recruitable, most are evil recruitable. opinions on best uses for dragons? on freeps efforts to stop dragons? are they too powerful? best way to recruit and organize? this whole thing took me 5 minutes to write, and its just an attempt at a free wheeling discussion. i have often read players lament about encountering dragon, after dragon, after dragon, after dragon when attacking the witch king or mordor. theres the quasi mythical “dragon slayer”, the “dragon magnet” commander.
for myself, i am a big advocate of the freeps in 1650/2950 taking whatever losses necessary to clear the witch king/dragon lord areas before turn 6. nothing as enjoyable for the either of these nazgul then introducing 3000 dwarven hi to the jaws of a worm. theres ways to deal with dragons guarding the gates of 3120(that involve stacking dead hc like firewood).
spin what you want( i have been a bit vague on purpose), and if you find the revelation of “game secrets” distasteful, well your not forced to read here. CIVILIZED discussion and debate, thats why i posted. if a better game results, we all benefit.
i started here because teams that use dragons efficently, can withstand massive market collapses, military reverses, and huge disadvanages in the recruitment of troops, either due to pop center limits or finance. facing a few thousand steel clad hc with food, leading a dragon is the mepbm equal of an invitation to discuss your tax return inside the doors of the I.R.S.
