If I pass an artifact to a Dragon in order to recruit him, what does happen to this artifact??
I presume that the Dragon holds it, so what happens if I move an agent in the same hex of the army that the dragon should join and attempt to take back this artifact by stealing it??
Has anyone tried doing so?
How difficult is to steal from a Dragon?

No seriously, in one game my team recruited Turukulon by offering him two artifacts (As a matter of fact, Maben ran into him by accident carrying lots of nice artifacts, so we had to try. Better than dying I guess
We then used the exact same approach as you describe by moving an agent to the hex where Turukulon would go when recruited. Hoarumrath (the wanna-bee thief) was 63A/30St at the time and was killed by Turukulon due to failing his theft. So the dragons holds the artifact you give them. I guess it works as in any other theft were the thief fails and is injured by the holder, giving his highest rank in damage. For dragons that is 100
So I guess it can be done, but you should use a agent so damn good that you cannot afford to loose him when the dragon kills him. A nasty dillema…

But you can locate the dragon in casting 418 or 428 !
Sometimes this is helpfull in the case you need to recruit a dragon.
Knowing where she/he is will help you a bit.
