Many thanks for all of the responses: I didn’t know what I was getting myself into with the initial questions… One unclear point: do all of these critters (ents, mumakil, surly hobbits, dragons) get involved in pop center combat as well (assuming that there is no army defending), or does it vary from critter to critter? All the ‘critters’ perform as a combat-weapon and as such the same rules apply. So yes, all of them participate in popcenter-combat if no enemy-armies are present (or defending).
The reason why many players (IMHO) believe they do not help in popcenter-combat is because they don’t show up in the combat-report. But trust me, they are there…
