Drops and early wins

Clint:
Routinely you advertise for players to pick up positions in the late game (turn 25 plus). Why do you do that? A position is so bad that a fellow team member will not pick it up. Does this not have the effect of making games longer and prolonging final victory?

What is the goal here? Is it to shorten the game? Maximize revenue?

Yes, it is hard to knock out a determined man. If some Texan wants to have his own Alamo, why deny him his fun? There are strategies for ending games and they have been discussed before. At least some of them.

Every game has its own rhythm. This is disrupted when the GM injects the "machinery of God" into it. The less GM interference and subjectivity the better. Essentially, and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, Clint please stay out of the games as much as you ethically can. Don't substitute your judgement for the players.

I'd say that you are making a valid point.
However I belive it is often a case of existing players for various
reasons being unable to take on another nation regardless of the
state of that nation.
Possible reasons for this could be lack of funds (a very real
possibility for some of us) or players already running two nations.

That's my impression anyway, correct me if I'm wrong Clint.

Agreed --> Let the players play. If I'm on the winning team against
a bug hunt, and I don't feel like bothering, I'll drop. My choice.
Hopefully, I'll remember the "bug" and hold a grudge until I see
him again.....

But it ain't a United Nations of Middle Earth majority vote issue...
