email delays

He is, however, the exception. Try explaining to your bank,
for example, that they didn't get your mortgage payment because
you left it until five minutes before the last post and got held
up in traffic.

Banks, Oil Companies, etc do not apply to any discussion regarding
Free Market Capitalism and the rights of consumers.

Please refrain.

Eh? I'm at a loss to reply to your statement, but I'll try anyway.

Why don't banks apply to a discussion on FMC? We're discussing
third party delays in getting messages to and from the company and
I gave a perfectly valid example to support the point that
Clint goes out of his way to help us (which he doesn't have to
do) and that most of the rest of the world would say "Tough.".
There are no "rights of consumers" in this instance. Harlequin
sets a deadline for the running of the turn and it is up to *you*
to get your orders in by that deadline. They are under no
obligation to wait for you or anybody else, myself included.
The fact that they try their best should not give rise to a
claim that your "rights" are being infringed when things don't
work out for reasons beyond their control.

I know this is partially a cultural thing but, ye gods, when
we start flinging around "rights of consumers" I begin to think
that things are getting a tad out of perspective...

No "we" weren't. I was replying to a very specific email that
certainly appeared, in my non-technical eyes, to implicate the
company directly. It wasn't a General "service level" discussion.
You turned it into one. I simply cared to note that banks, oil
companies, etc, are arguably NOT accountable to the same rules
are the rest of the "private" world...but that's a political
discussion. I apologize if my cynicism led to such a tangent.
