Euro because the UK government knows the population is at least 2-1

it according to latest polls.

Dunno what polls you're reading, Richard, but it is now nearer 50:50.
Just wait until after the summer, once Brits have travelled a bit in
the Euro zone...

My betting: sterling has three years left at most.

RD: I fear you are right and the gullible British public will be stampeded
into accepting this foul artificial currency - which has consistently sunk
against sterling and the dollar - for fear of being "left out."

Left out of what I ask? Every single nation which signed up to the euro
cooked the books to a greater or lesser degree to meet the criteria.
Currently Britain has one of the healthiest economies in Europe. If we join
the euro, Britain's real wealth will be drained to subsidise the weaker
member states. You need look no further than the disastrous so-called
"Common Agricultural Policy" to see what happens when we integrate further
with Europe. It costs us billions every year to subsidise uneconomic
continental farmers and brings this country no benefits in any way shape or
form.

Sacrificing our currency is the biggest step yet to sacrificing our national
sovereignty with all that entails. No more will Tony Blair be able to
posture as a "world" statesman!

I don't hate Europe or any country therein. I welcome foreign tourists to
this country, and I love travelling abroad as much as any Englishman.

So I say yes to trade agreements with the rest of Europe, but NO to any
form of political integration.

I could go on but this is not the place to discuss it. Sorry but it just
winds me up so much!

Richard.
